Bridgeport News: Mayor Submits A five-Year, $178 Million Dollar Capital Plan

BRIDGEPORT, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim announced that he has submitted a five-year, $178 Million dollar capital plan to the Bridgeport city council outlining many infrastructure improvements for which the city will seek to bond between now and fiscal year 2021. The capital plan includes more than $50 million in school construction and improvements including more than $26 Million for the construction of the new Bassick High School in fiscal year 2018. Also among Mayor Ganim’s priorities are more than $15 million in economic development initiatives such as the Gateway to the South End development involving the University of Bridgeport. #Westport CT--Mary Young, Westport Deputy Planning & Zoning Director announced today that on March 3, 2016, thePlanning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to review an amendment (Text Amendment #705) to the Westport Zoning Regulations.  Text Amendment #705 (Application #15-057) was submitted by Melvin Barr of Barr Associates, LLC.  The amendment proposes allowing an alternative housing type; cluster housing. Westport News: Energy Drink Theft

On 02/19/16 at approximately 8:00pm, Westport Officers responded to the Newtown Police Department to arrest Branden Betas on an active warrant held by Westport. On 11/26/15, suspect Betas was captured on Stop and Shop surveillance placing energy drinks into a bag and leaving the store without paying. Store security positively identified Betas because he was arrested at the Bridgeport Stop and Shop for a similar crime. Betas was held on a $2,500.00 bond and has a court date in Norwalk on 02/29/16. Westport Police: As A Rule Listen To Police Orders…….

#Westport CT--On 02/19/16 at approximately 12:00pm, Allen Pearson was blocking traffic with an oil truck on Railroad Place while pumping oil. Officers report that Pearson has been warned in the past not to block the roadway. Pearson refused to move his truck until he was done pumping oil and refused to give the officers his license and registration paperwork. Pearson then tried several times to shut the door of the truck while officers ordered him to exit. Pearson was taken out of the truck by the officers and placed under arrest. Pearson was uninjured.
