His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Senator Gomes Calls for Fair Chance Employment

HARTFORD, CT - Today, Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport) joined advocates in support of House Bill 5237: An Act Concerning Fair Chance Employment. The bill is a set of hiring policies for private employers, designed to ensure that applicants with criminal records are evaluated on the merits of their qualifications, not on their criminal records.   “We have too many hard-working people trying to find jobs that are being disqualified,” said Sen. Gomes. “We need to give everyone that is looking for a job a fair shot. K-9 Graduation

A graduation for K-9 was recently held at Fairfield Police Department for Fairfield, Trumbull, Derby and Seymour.  Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said K-9's make our department better.  First Selectman Michael Tetreau agreed, citing K-9 Ruger's at his retirement ceremony a few months back.  K-9 Ruger had to retire over health issues.   Frank Reda from Superior K-9 said the benefit is teamwork, that each town will share the dogs and the same training allows police  K-9 to "plug and play", that is each officer and K-9 knows what is expected.   The graduates were Fairfield Officer Kevin Wells with K-9 Jager, Fairfield Officer Evan Kaesmann with Maverick, Trumbull Officer Richard Carlson with Cyrus, Trumbull Officer Gregory Lee with Storm, Seymour Officer…

Bridgeport Crash

4:49pm--UPDATE: Police report that the cars have been removed and traffic is flowing on North Avenue once more. 3:49pm--#Bridgeport CT--Two people were seriously injured in the green Subaru after being rear ended by a silver SUV. Witnesses told me they thought the driver of the silver SUV either was intoxicated or had a medical condition, they said the driver was swerving prior to hitting the green Subaru at the interseciton of North Avenue and Dewy/Briarwood Avenue. The silver SUV continued south on North Avenue near the Fairfield town line and came to a stop after hitting a tree in the median.
