Mayor Ganim and the Department of Public Facilities Announce the Opening of City Parks for 2025 Memorial Day Weekend

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim and the Bridgeport Department of Public Facilities has announced the opening date for the City’s parks for Saturday, May 24, 2025. Mayor Ganim is reminding all residents that checkpoints will be in effect for all visitors to purchase park stickers from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend in September. Residents should be aware that checkpoints will accept Credit Cards only for payment. There is also the option of obtaining Park Stickers at the City’s Parks & Recreation department via Cash or Credit, located at 7 Quarry Rd, Trumbull, CT, Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm. Crash Involving Firetruck

At approximately 1:30pm, Ladder 5 was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North Avenue and Lindley Street while responding to an emergency call. The driver of the civilian vehicle was extricated by the members of the Bridgeport Fire Department and transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating.

The Bridgeport Animal Control Hosts 2025 “Free the Shelter” Event

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Animal Control is hosting the return of their “Free the Shelter” event on May 30th and May 31st with the intent to have a large amount of their animals adopted. All adoption fees are sponsored by The Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals in New Canaan as a part of the event’s initiative. Participants are encouraged to visit the Bridgeport Animal Shelter at 236 Evergreen Street between the hours of 10:00 AM-3:00 PM; no appointment needed. Participants will be able to fill out an application to get approved for a meet-and-greet with their preferred animal. Upon approval, participants will have their pets spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to the animal being brought home. Eligibility requirements for participants include bringing proof of home ownership or a notarized letter from a landlord, bringing any other dogs that may be in the home if a participant wishes…

UPDATE: Stolen Vehicle getaway At Trumbull Gardens Causes Crash

Report of a shooting that occurred at the Trumbull Gardens around the 500 block of Trumbull Ave in Bridgeport. Witnesses on scene informed me that the crash was due to a shooting that occurred. Another witness said it had to do with teenagers with stolen cars, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
