2020-03-07@9:30am--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire located at 888 North Ave at 9:30am. The first unit reported smoke showing from the rear of the building. The fire was contained to a small are in the walls on the second floor. No injuries occurred at the fire. Searches of the building were negative. No one was inside at the time of the fire. Businesses occupy both floors, so no one was displaced. The fire is under investigation with the Fire Marshals Division.
The City of Bridgeport was notified today by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health regarding the first confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) within this jurisdiction. The confirmed case involves a physician from New York State who rounded at Bridgeport Hospital, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 6, 2020. “As we discussed yesterday during our City of Bridgeport Emergency Operations briefing, the EOC and Department of Public Health Teams remain in continual contact with all local, regional, state and federal partners to ensure we have the most up to date information and strategies regarding this virus” stated Mayor Ganim. 2020-03-05 #Bridgeport CT-- Thursday night, PT Barnum Housing walking detail observed six juveniles vandalizing a parked and unoccupied motor vehicle near building 8. The children were observed damaging all the windows and even stomping on the windshield of the vehicle. Upon seeing uniformed officers they fled. One juvenile was able to be located and subsequently issued a juveniles complaint summons. The owner of the vehicle was located and had his vehicle towed. 2020-03-06@9:11pm--#Bridgeport CT-- The Gulf gas station at 1598 Capitol Avenue was robbed by two masked males. Both had firearms and fled on foot, very similar to the robbery there January 17th.

2020-03-06#Bridgeport CT-- Police say two men in their 20's were hit by gunfire while sitting in a parked car on Carrie Street. A third passenger who was not hit attempted to drive the vehicle to the hospital from the passenger seat crashed at Connecticut and Hollister Street. One of the victims was immediately taken into surgery and his condition is not known at this time, the other victim is not critical according to police reports. Police say earlier they engaged a vehicle believed to be responsible for the shooting after shots were fired but lost sight of the vehicle on I95 at exit 26 when it fled in speeds over 100mph.
