Bridgeport News: Funding Available For Landowner Impacted By Hurricanes

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim is announcing that The United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service has been granted funding that will help landowners with property who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy and Irene. “I am pleased to know that our coastal homeowners are being offered this funding to provide options moving forward. The money will help homeowners who were severely impacted by the hurricanes and give then an alternative, rather than reside in the path of a future storm,” said Mayor Ganim. The City of Bridgeport EOC is monitoring the potential storm tracks for tonight into tomorrow, especially with the slight risk of Flash Flooding. Here is an update concerning the flash flooding threat for late tonight and Friday morning.   As low pressure approaches from the Mid-Atlantic region late tonight and passes over or just south of New York City and Long  Island on Friday, rain could become heavy at times from late tonight into Friday morning. Rainfall of at least 3/4" to 1 inch is expected, with locally higher amounts up to 2 inches. Bridgeport News: Harding HS Goes In Lock In/Out

2:31pm--UPDATE: Lock in/out has been lifted.  Police have been working with the parents involved. 2:00pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Harding High School is in lock in/out after a threat was made to a student.  A neighbor dispute spilled over to the school this morning resulting in suspensions.  The school received an email threatening a student that was not suspended.  There is also a police presence around the school blocking traffic around the school.   This news report is made possible by:

5:40pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A young teen was found on a porch in the 200 block of Wells Street with gunshot powder burns to his hands.  The teen is no talking not only on how it happened but would even give his name to first responders.  He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.
