Bridgeport News: Child Hit By Car
7:11pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A boy about 12 years of age was hit by a car on Maplewood Avenue between Park Avenue and Pequonnick Street. First responders said the injuries did not appear to be serious.

8:22pm--#Bridgeport CT--First responders received a call of two adults and two children stuck on the rocks at Seaside Park. Officials launched a "zodiac"/inflatable police and fireboat to rescue what turned out to be four adult males. Assistant Fire Chief Rich D'Onofrio told me that the men were from New York and were unfamiliar with the location and tides. The chief said they are called out a couple times over the summer for these type of rescues despite frequent warnings from the police throughout the day.
UPDATE: Police said Cabot L. Barksdale 5/3/54 of 85 Concord Street Bridgeport was operating a Ford Edge SUV south on Park Avenue then turn west on Garden Street striking a male bicyclist traveling northbound on Garden Street. Witnesses said the Ford Edge accelerated and struck the bicyclist and dragged him about ten feet. The bicyclist lay under the SUV. When officers arrived they found Cabot outside the vehicle smelling of an alcoholic beverage and highly agitated that he had just struck a person. A pint of vodka and a cold 12 ounce can of beer were found in the driver's seat area. Patrol arrested Barksdale for driving Under the Influence. 10:01pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police investigate a crash at Hancock Avenue and State Street. There was no word on injuries but AMR was on the scene.
3:15pm--#Fairfield CT--#Bridgeport CT-- A fourteen-year-old autistic boy from Monroe walked along the sandbar from Fairfield beach. As the water began to rise for the 3:56pm high tide, the boy began to panic. Nearby fishermen spotted the boy and picked brought him aboard their boat. The boy was brought to the Pier 5 where first responders were staged, he was checked out by EMS and he only suffered some cuts and scratches from the rough portion of the sandbar.
7:31pm--#Bridgeport CT-- It continues to be a tough day for motorcyclists. A car and motorcycle collided at Truman and Park Avenue. Both the driver of the car and the motorcyclist were injured. Witnesses said the motorcyclist had riding gear on as well as a helmet.
2:55pm--#Bridgeport CT--Prayers are needed for a motorcyclist and all involved at Huntington Turnpike near Virginia Avenue. The motorcyclist was pinned under and trapped under the pickup for approximately a half hour. Firefighters had to lift the truck to free the man while family members looked on.
12:12am--#Bridgeport CT-- Last night we reported that a person arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with gunshot wounds. At 1:50am police located a crime scene on Asylum Street. The victim of the shooting died from his injuries at Bridgeport Hospital around 6am this morning. This news report is made possible by:
10:55pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called for a fire at Holland Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. They located a fire on the roof of 65 Holland Avenue, the Fusco Company. The firefighters had to get through a chained link fence to gain entry. Once the made entry it was only a few minutes before the fire was extinguished. Firefighters had to force entry to the building to ensure the fire did not spread inside the building which it did not. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
6:55pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police are investigating a shots fired incident at Park and Harral Avenue. Radio reports said one person arrived at Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle shot in the leg. A witness said they thought two people were shot. This is breaking news and none of this info has been confirmed. It is subject to change. If I get any updates I'll post it here.
