At 10:50 pm The Bridgeport Police Department made a juvenile arrest in the recent threat to our schools. The Bridgeport Police Department would like to ensure our community that the safety of our students and staff is a priority and that there will be a strong police presence at our schools. We would like to thank our patrol division, Detective Bureau, and our federal partners for working together on this case.
Many concerned parents reached out to us about a possible threat posted online. I immediately reached out and to the city and received this report: The Bridgeport Police Department is aware of and actively investigating the recent threats to our schools. We are committed to ensuring that all our students and staff are safe in our schools and will provide all of the necessary resources to protect our schools. Today's vehicle fire was hosted by Bridgeport at Wordin and Fairfield Avenue. A thick black column of smoke was visible for miles. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down. Report of a MVA vs. Motorcycle at the 600 block of North Ave. Three parties were involved in the accident. Two patients were transported to the hospital one was in critical but stable condition and the second had non-critical injuries. There are no further details at this time.

On September 13, 2024, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at Howard Avenue and Fairfield Avenue for an equipment violation. During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Sasha Garcia, had an outstanding warrant from Montville, Connecticut. She was transported to the Police Department pending pick-up by Montville authorities. The front seat passenger, Tavon Holman, also had outstanding warrants from Montville and Bridgeport. Holman was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm, and further investigation revealed he is a convicted felon previously charged with stealing a firearm and having weapons in a motor vehicle. Early on the morning of September 11, 2024, at around 2:53 a.m., state troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport responded to a five-car crash on I-95 northbound, near Exit 9. The incident followed reports of a wrong-way driver, identified as a dark-colored Toyota Corolla. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a heavily damaged black Toyota Corolla in the left lane, along with four other vehicles involved in the crash.
