Bridgeport News: Update in Fatal Stabbing

The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the murder of a 29-year-old man who was stabbed to death behind a social club in the East End of the city early Friday morning. The victim was identified as Kyle Allen LeBlanc from Southington, Ct. He was most recently residing in Stratford. At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1st, the Stratford Police responded to a report of a person laying in the street bleeding near the intersection of Stratford Ave. and Bruce Ave. Officers subsequently found the victim there deceased, as a result of multiple stab wounds. Firefighters are in the 200 block of Willow Street for a basement fire. Unconfirmed radio reports said everyone made it out of the building. Bridgeport Police Update on University of Bridgeport Shooting Incident

A man, who is not affiliated with the university, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in a campus dining hall, reportedly following a personal dispute. The identified person of interest, 18-year-old Dylan Cruz-Tillery of Queens, New York, has not yet been located. Bridgeport Police are coordinating with the NYPD’s 105th Precinct to find him. Police confirmed that shots were fired in the dining hall at the University of Bridgeport. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to the hospital. Just 24 hours earlier, the University of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Police Department hosted a "Symposium on Use of Force" at the university.

Bridgeport’s 11th Homicide

On October 20, 2024, around 11:20 a.m., Bridgeport Police responded to a report of a person shot on the 200 block of Goddard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Jahseim Cherry, 22, of New Haven, later succumbed to his injuries, marking Bridgeport’s 11th homicide of the year.
