Bridgeport News; Heavy Police Due To New Chief

#Bridgeport CT–Earlier today Bridgeport Police Chief Gaudette along with the Make A Wish Foundation named Karla Hernandez honorary police chief for the day. A large motorcycle motorcade escorted the city’s SWAT truck with Karla inside to Seaside Park for Karla to tour the stables and meet the mounted patrol. She also toured the park via ATV’s and patrol car. Afterwards she visited Arthur’s Famous Pizza on Park Avenue for dinner where she learned she will be gong to Disney World later this month. I will have a video report tomorrow. I moved this report up due to the many messages received regarding the heavy police presence!

Stratford News: Home Invasion

#Stratford CT–Early Tuesday morning at 2:30am Stratford Police were dispatched to a home on Birdseye Street for a report of a home invasion. The victims reported that male suspects entered the rear yard and pistol whipped two people on the outside deck and forcing them inside the home. Once inside the pistol whipped two more people and held them at gunpoint. The other suspect then ransacked the home removing jewelry, money and electronics and then fled.

The Stratford Detective Bureau arrived on scene to follow up on leads. Two suspects were located at the local hotel at 360 Honeyspot Road and an apprehended by the detectives and police patrol. Arrested was Victor Larrea of 401 Dover Street in Bridgeport and Jonathan J. Ortega of 525 Wood Avenue also of Bridgeport. They were charged with assault, threatening,m reckless endangerment, home invasion, burglary, larceny, robbery, risk of injury to a minor, carrying a dangerous weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set for $500,000.

Bridgeport’s New Paving System (Video Report)

#Bridgeport CT–Last time I interviewed Jorge Garcia of the Bridgeport Public Facilities and he was showing off the Pot Hole Killer and how quickly it filled pot holes.  Now Jorge has discovered a new way to repave roads faster at a fraction of the cost of the traditional “mill and fill” system.  The new system not only recycles but is much faster.  Typically it takes a week to pave a road, the new system repaves the road in a day.  Off camera Jorge mentioned that this faster system does not inconvenience those that park on the street for the week as well.  The city is paving a historic 30 miles of roads this year.  This was recorded last week on Broadbridge Avenue.  The town of Trumbull and a town in Massachusetts was on hand to observe this new system.

Bridgeport News: Two-year-old in fair condition after being struck by vehicle

Bridgeport Police Press Release:

#Bridgeport, Conn. (August 4, 2015) – Yesterday evening, a two-year-old child was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Pearl St. and Park St.  The child was transported to Bridgeport hospital, and is currently in fair condition. The child’s mother said that the two-year-old was in the backyard of their home playing, and must have snuck out. The child’s mother also noted that she did not witness the accident.  The driver of the vehicle was issued an infraction for operating without a license.

Bridgeport News: Shots Fired

10:02pm–Reports of shots fired by teens with white t-shirts pulled over their face on Terrace Circle.  Resident on Sunshine Circle reporting bullet holes in the walls of their house.  Detectives are investigating according to radio reports.

Bridgeport News: Report Of A Naked Man Injured

UPDATE: Police spokesman called and said police are trying to sort the scene out.  They believe he may have been injured by the broken glass.  Residents of Charles Street are commenting that it was a naked man who had a chunk of glass sticking out of his arm.

12:37am–#Bridgeport CT– A man was shot in the 200 block of Charles Street.  Witnesses told me the victim was put into a black Pontiac Grand Prix and taken to nearby St. Vincent’s Hospital.  Radio reports said police found a large amount of blood on the sidewalk.  No shell casings have been recovered.  Police are trying to confirm if it was a shooting.  A large amount of broken glass was seen near the bloodied sidewalk.  Police continue to investigate.

I was not prevented in hearing or reporting on this call in any way.  A previous report from another news source reported that Bridgeport Police are preventing violent news from being reported until after election day.

Fairfield News: Teens Seriously Injured In Tubing Accident

4:40pm–#Fairfied CT–#Brideport CT–For the second time this week Fairfield and Bridgeport coordinated for a water rescue, this time on Jennings Beach in Fairfield.  From radio reports and reports from witnesses two teen girls were on the water being pulled boat when they slammed head first into another boat.  Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson said the girls were stabilized on a private boat until police and fire boats arrived on scene to transport them to shore.  Bisson said both girls were unconscious and their condition is considered serious.  They were transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.

I-95 Gun Waving Incident

9:50pm–#cttraffic–State Police, Fairfield and Bridgeport have a car pulled over at exit 28 northbound for a gun waving incident starting in Fairfield.  The ramp at exit 28 is currently shut down for the stop.
