UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Press Release: Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night on Saunders Avenue. The victim has been identified as William Ocasio Jr., 25, of Bridgeport. Police responded to a report of a shooting at 7:40 p.m. at 306 Saunders Ave. The victim and witnesses reported that Ocasio answered a ring at the doorbell and was confronted by two hooded and masked males, one of whom had a firearm. As the victim and a witness pushed the door closed, shots were fired, and Ocasio was struck in the side and arm. He was taken to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center, where he was in stable condition today. At approximately 2:15 pm, Westport officers responded to Castle Wine & Spirits on a report of a shoplifting complaint. The female suspect reportedly stole a bottle of liquor and hid it in a bag while her male companion distracted other employees. Store employees provided dispatch with a description of the suspects and suspect vehicle. Detective Heinmiller spotted the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of another local liquor store. Other officers attempted to stop the vehicle who led police on a brief pursuit. With the assistance of Fairfield, Bridgeport and CT State Police, the vehicle was stopped on Interstate 95 in Bridgeport. Three suspects were taken into custody and the stolen liquor was recovered. Bridgeport Police Press Release: #Bridgeport, Conn. (Jan. 31, 2015) -- Detectives are investigating a shooting today that happened on Trumbull Avenue near Terrace Circle. The victim, identified as Khyren Best, 14, of Bridgeport, was walking with two other males at approximately 2:30 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up and the driver fired several shots. The teen was struck in the buttocks. The vehicle was described as a silver-colored car. The victim was taken in a private vehicle to Saint Vincent's Medical Center, and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Police are interviewing witnesses.
