What does Fairfield’s K-9 Jake have in common with LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, P. Diddy, Jeff Gordon, 50 Cent and Donald Trump? They all had their vehicles customized by Will Castro. Will Castro's Designs and Unique are synonymous with the highest quality customizations and craftsmanship all over the world. Will Castro also has a TV show, Unique Rides on Speed Channel. The custom Ford F-150 was designed by Nu-age Warning from Seymour, Connecticut.The customized ride was paid for from private donations. Sergeant Hector Irizarry is Jake’s handler and chauffeur. K-9 Jake is named in honor of Marine Corp veteran Jake Pettit from Fairfield, Connecticut. K-9 Jake and Sergeant Irizarry use the truck to bring awareness of Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)…

Wasted food is a huge and growing problem – 30 to 40% of the US’s food supply eventually goes to waste and, when discarded in landfills, is a major source of methane, a potent “greenhouse gas,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. But, food waste represents an appealing opportunity as well – and Fairfield wants to help Town’s residents make the most of it. The Sustainable Fairfield Task Force (SFTF) and the Town’s Solid Waste and Recycling Department and Commission has launched a new pilot program to encourage residents to recycle their food waste into beneficial compost, either through home composting or curbside pickup. Fairfield Little LeagueCapture the Connecticut State Title

The Fairfield Little League Girls Softball (FLLGS) 11u All-Stars battled Bristol and the weather on Thursday to capture the Connecticut State title. The team beat Bristol twice in the best of three game state championship tournament at Dougiello Park. It marked two firsts for the league, as it was the first time Fairfield has hosted a State Championship tournament and the first time FLLGS has won a state title on its home turf.   The post season was a team effort, as all players contributed to the final 4-1 record. Both Francesca Colangelo and Emily Dowd were counted on to pitch well against a strong group of opponents. Fairfield battled teams from Wilton and Seymour to reach the championship round.…

Man Runs Cross Country To Raise Awareness For Firefighter Cancer

The Fairfield and Bridgeport Firefighters  welcomed Matt Gregg, a retired Apple executive who is running across the country to bring further attention to the associated higher cancer rates in firefighters.  Matt today started off his run at the Home Depot in Fairfield onto Fairfield Avenue to State Street, to Water Street to Fire Headquarters.   Matt zig-zagged across the country starting in California and will run back home in New Hampshire.

Fairfield-Bridgeport News: People Trapped In Car With Live Wire

Fairfield Police UPDATE: On 07/17/2019 at approximately 5:16pm Fairfield Emergency Communications received a report of a large tree limb landing on a vehicle injuring the driver in front of 3595 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Officers responded to find Jarrod Marotto, DOB 08/26/1997 of Southington, unconscious in the driver seat. Jarrod was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff. Further investigation revealed that Jarrod was driving southbound on Park Avenue when a large limb from a Cottonwood tree was struck by lightning and fell striking the vehicle and Jarrod on the driver side. Jarrod was the only occupant in the vehicle. This case is currently under investigation by the Fairfield…
