News that Amazon is looking for another city to host its second headquarters has Mayor Ganim and Fairfield Selectman Mike Tetreau very interested to be home to the largest Internet-based retailer in the world.   “We believe that the City of Bridgeport and Fairfield County have the attributes and meet the criteria that Amazon is looking for as evidence displayed in the analysis done by Market Watch, which publicized 12 cities throughout the country, Bridgeport is one of those cities selected,” explained Mayor Ganim.

Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau stated, “We are keenly interested to attract a world-renowned company like Amazon to advance Fairfield County as a potential site for its second corporate headquarters.”

The City of Bridgeport and Fairfield are excited about Amazon’s announcement and Bridgeport’s noted optimum position. Both Ganim and Tetreau look forward to pursuing this opportunity to be a future reality that will bring jobs and strengthen economic growth for the region.   Following the news Friday posted in MarketWatch with the people’s “vote now” survey, Bridgeport ranks second to be Amazon’s HQ2 with 13% of the popular vote.

Fairfield News: 17 Year Old Drowns In Fairfield Pond

UPDATE:  The victim is identified as 17-year-old Nagee Crowder of Fairfield CT. After Crowder was transported to the hospital, resuscitative efforts continued until 8:10pm, at which time St. Vincent’s medical staff pronounced Crowder dead.
Witness accounts stated that several juveniles were swimming in Perry’s Mill Pond. Crowder was observed jumping into the water off of a paddleboard and when his friends saw him in distress they made attempts to help but were unable to save him.
This investigation is still active pending cause and manner of death from The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

#Fairfield CT– Around 6pm first responders were called to Perry Mill’s Pond on Cedar Mill Lane for a seventeen-year-old male that was swimming with friends when he began struggling to stay afloat. Witnesses told the firefighters that the 17-year-old was sub-surfaced in the pond. Assistant Fire Chief Roger Caisse told me they immediately went into rescue and recovery efforts. A short time later the dive team recovered him. He was under water for about forty minutes. I spoke to Police Chief Gary MacNamara who told me that he tragically did not survive.
