Fairfield News: Child Found Wandering

10:07am--#Fairfield CT-- A four-year-old girl was found wandering on Villa Avenue this morning.  Lieutenant Robert Kalamaras said the girl lived in the area.  Her 19-year-old sister was providing care was sleeping.  He said the four-year-old dressed herself, then managed to unlock the deadbolt and wander outside.  A man found the girl but he was late for work so he turned her over to a mail carrier in front of 585 Villa Avenue.  The mail carrier called police and the police were able to piece together who the girl was and where she lived.  Kalamaras said it was accidental and no charges are pending.

Fairfield News: First Responders Rescue Suicide Victim

Fairfield News: 2 Fishermen Drown – 4 Rescued

7:30am--#Fairfield CT-- Around 7:30am Fairfield Emergency Communication Center received a call for 6 fishermen stranded on Penfield Reef.  Assistant Fire Chief Roger Caisse said that when first responders arrived on the scene, three individuals made their way back to safety, one person was rescued and two were submerged under the water.   Police Chief Gary MacNamara said the individuals were walking towards the lighthouse on the reef when high tide came in and overwhelmed the fishermen.  The chief said the men were closer to the lighthouse then they were to the shore.  Resources from surrounding areas provided dive teams and other resources in the attempted recovery.  At 3:22pm police radio reports said one victim was recovered and the second victim was…

Fairfield Police Explorers Attend Cadet Police Academy

#Fairfield CT--The Fairfield Police Explorers attended the 2017 Cadet Police Academy held at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, July 23-29. A total of 350 cadets and 90 police officers and civilian staff from Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts attended the week-long academy. The Cadet Police Academy is a comprehensive and challenging experience in the field of Law Enforcement. The Academy has been designed to provide Cadets with a broad exposure to modern day police work. Each level is a one week program and takes the full week to complete.  All staff members are volunteers to the program and are either sworn Law Enforcement Officers or adult advisors for their respective programs attending the academy.   The Cadets were…

Fatal Crash After Police Pursuit

UPDATE: Police say the Jervon Winston, 22, of Brooklyn, New York was the driver of the car who died in this accident.  He was not wearing a seatbelt.  Police confirmed our report that he did not negotiate the curve of the ramp, and went straight down an embankment into a tree.   UPDATE: A state police accident summary said the 2015 Chrysler 200 involved in the crash is owned by Ari Rent a Car in Linden, N.J.  The driver has not been identified.  My sources told me the car was stolen and the driver had no identification on him.   11:17pm--#Stratford CT--#Trumbull Ct-- #Fairfield CT-- An off duty state trooper was struck by a car on Barnum Avenue Cutoff. Fairfield News: Cops Nab Man Who Hit Biker And Fled

#Fairfield CT--On August 8 th , 2017 at approximately noon time,  we were first to report to you that the Fairfield Police Department’s traffic unit responded to Black Rock Tnpk near the Route 15 Southbound entrance ramp after multiple 911 calls were received reporting a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle fled the scene southbound on the Merrit Parkway. The vehicle was described as a gray vehicle with front end damage. Moments later, Officers with the Westport Police Department stopped a vehicle northbound on the Merritt Parkway near Exit 42. Fairfield News: Jennings Beach Sexual Assault Never Occurred Says Police

On 08/01/17 at approximately 4:40pm, a sex assault at Jennings Beach was reported to the Detective Bureau at Police Headquarters. While investigating these allegations, the Detective Bureau found no evidence to corroborate the victim’s account of what had occurred. After further investigation, the 18 year old female complainant who resides in Bridgeport retracted her statement to Detectives and confirmed that she was not a victim of a sexual assault, nor was she the victim of any other crime.   Despite the outcome of this incident the Fairfield Police Department takes every report of sexual assault seriously and conducts a full and thorough investigation into all complaints.
