#Fairfield CT--"Getting Buried in Fairfield,” a 10-mile bike tour exploring six historic local cemeteries and changing burial practices since the town’s founding in 1639, is set for Saturday, October 21. The guided bicycle excursion, departs from the Fairfield Museum (370 Beach Road) at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the first 30 cyclists who register at: Fall2017biketour.eventbrite.com. It is sponsored by the Fairfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and the Fairfield Museum and History Center. The cycling tour is priced at $5 for Fairfield Museum members and $8 for non-members. Participants will assemble in front of the Museum by 9:15 a.m. for orientation and depart promptly at 9:30 a.m., returning along one of Fairfield’s designated bike routes by noon. Here are the details on the pursuit and manhunt we were first to report to you as it was happening: #Fairfield CT-- At 4:34pm on 09/03/2017 while conducting Motor Vehicle Enforcement at Exit 19 in Southport, Officers attempted to stop a Dodge Neon with a Stolen License plate. The vehicle fled a short distance (.3 miles) and the sole occupant/operator fled from the moving vehicle which drove across two lawns causing damage and came to rest at a shrub/mailbox on Osborne Lane. K9 Officer Kaesmann and Maverick tracked the suspect through several yards and subsequently located the subject hiding in a side yard on Daves Lane. The suspect was apprehended by K9 Maverick and suffered minor puncture wounds to his buttocks…
10:39pm--#Fairfield CT-- I don't normally report on suicide attempts but a condo building at the Evergreen Condos at 354 Knapps Highway have been evacuated due to high carbon monoxide levels. According to radio reports, a person closed the garage (garages are under each condo) placed a note on the dashboard and left his car running in an attempt to take his life. Neighbors noticed and attempted to free the man while first responders were on their way. Firefighters are reporting high carbon monoxide levels in the building and are ventilating.
5:34pm--#Bridgeport CT-- State police were in pursuit tan Infinity on Park Avenue but broke off the pursuit when the driver began driving on the sidewalks. State police broke off the pursuit on Park Avenue but Bridgeport Police picked up the pursuit on Vine Street. The driver abandoned the car on Sanford Place and fled on foot. K-9 from Fairfield was called in and the dog tracked the man to an apartment at 10 Coleman Street where he was positively identified and taken into custody.
4:00pm--#Fairfield CT-- Police nabbed a shoplifter who was putting merchandise down his pants at the Stop and Shop at the circle at 1160 Kings Highway Cut-off. Does anyone know if they put the merchandise back on the shelf afterward? This news report is made possible by:
6:00pm--#Fairfield CT-- Firefighters remain busy in Fairfield with simultaneous calls. First a call for a bicyclist who was struck by a car in front of Woodfield Village at 1895 Stratfield Road. 3:51pm--#Fairfield CT-- Police are investigating a crash between a car and motorcycle at North Benson Road and Post Road. The motorcyclist was injured and unconscious for a period of time.
