Milford News: Milford Police Arrest Suspect in Storage Facility Burglary After Months-Long Investigation

Milford, CT – On May 6, 2024, Milford Police responded to CubeSmart Storage at 90 Rowe Avenue following a report of an active burglary. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple storage units had been broken into, with several broken locks scattered at the scene. The Detective Bureau immediately took over the investigation, with the Crime Scene Unit processing the area for evidence.

After an extensive investigation, authorities secured arrest warrants for two suspects. On August 13, 2024, Milford Police apprehended Colt Meadows, 20, of 4 Glade Street, West Haven. Meadows has been charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 3rd Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd Degree. A $25,000 court-set bond was placed on Meadows, who is scheduled to appear in Milford court on September 10, 2024.

Milford News: Serious crash involving moped ends in death

On August 13, 2024, at approximately 2:06PM, the Milford Police Department Traffic Division was called to investigate a serious motor vehicle accident with life threatening injuries in the area of 1061 Boston Post Rd. A preliminary investigation reveals that a car was traveling east on Boston Post Rd when it was struck by an Asceno R2/50 moped. The operator of the moped was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the moped was identified as Brian McGrory, 65, of Milford. Milford Police Arrest Suspect in Cube Smart Storage Burglary

On May 6, 2024, Milford Police were dispatched to Cube Smart Storage at 90 Rowe Ave following a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered several storage units had been broken into, with numerous broken locks scattered on the ground. The Detective Bureau took over the investigation, and the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene.

After an extensive investigation, two arrest warrants were issued. On July 31, 2024, officers responded to New Haven to serve one of these warrants and took custody of Tylon Gardner, 34, of Derby. Gardner was charged with Burglary in the 3rd degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the 3rd degree, Larceny in the 3rd degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 3rd degree. He was held on a court-set bond of $25,000. Additionally, Gardner had two active Violation of Probation warrants, each with a $250,000 bond, which were also served. Gardner was subsequently transported to Milford Court for arraignment.

Milford News: Man Arrested for Vandalism and Probation Violation at Boscov’s

On July 26, 2024, Milford Police were dispatched to Boscov’s at 1201 Boston Post Road in response to a report of a male breaking items inside the store. The investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Gripes, who was accused of smashing items in the jewelry section and knocking things off shelves. Additionally, Gripes was found to have an active PRAWN warrant for violating probation. He was charged with criminal mischief, breach of peace, and violation of probation, with a bond set at $75,250.

Milford News: Police Bust Major Drug Operation After Gulf Street Shooting

On June 13, 2024, Milford Police responded to a Gulf Street address following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located Sean Cleary, 22, of Milford, who had sustained a graze wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A protective sweep of the residence was conducted to ensure there were no additional victims or suspects. During this sweep, officers discovered large quantities of suspected packaged marijuana throughout the home. The detective bureau then assumed the investigation.

The investigation led to the seizure of a significant amount of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia, a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and a high-capacity magazine. As a result, arrest warrants were issued for Cleary and Jacques Schapira, 28, of West Haven, who was also believed to be involved and present during the shooting incident.

On July 25, 2024, Sean Cleary was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to sell one kilogram or more of a cannabis-type substance, conspiracy to possess with intent to sell one kilogram or more of a cannabis-type substance, operating a drug factory, alteration of a firearm identification mark, and illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine. He was placed under a $150,000 court-set bond and transported to Milford Court.

On July 24, 2024, Jacques Schapira was also taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to sell one kilogram or more of a cannabis-type substance, and conspiracy to possess with intent to sell one kilogram or more of a cannabis-type substance. Schapira was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Court on August 21, 2024.

The investigation is still ongoing.
