#Bridgeport, CT – Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch has declared a Snow Emergency, starting at 6:00PM tonight, in the state’s largest city. “As always, we're preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best. Our city has rallied together time and time again this winter to successfully beat back potentially harmful road conditions caused by the snow. And, we know we're up for the challenge yet again. In order to keep kids and families safe across the city, we're asking everyone to abide by the snow emergency. Bridgeport News: Structure Fire
5:13am--#Firefighters were called to 135 Park Street for a structure fire. The building was vacant except for some homeless people who took up residence. It is possible the fire started when they started a fire to keep warm. Firefighters found heavy smoke when they arrived. Firefighters searched for anyone inside the building but found no one. Firefighters said this fire had the potential to be bigger but within a half hour firefighters had the upper hand on the blaze. Bridgeport Detectives Investigate 1st Homicide
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Jose Lebron, 28. UPDATE: #Bridgeport, CT-- Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at the corner of William and Ogden streets tonight. Police responded to the location shortly after 6 p.m. and found an adult male who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. "Detectives are at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing potential witnesses," said police spokesman William Kaempffer. "The investigation is in its early stages. We are asking for the community's help. We can't and won't tolerate senseless gun violence in our neighborhoods. Our kids and families come first."
