Westport, CT –The Westport Youth Commission is proud to announce the launch of a new employment platform specifically for high school students. Youth Services Program Director Kevin Godburn said, " Our student leaders pursued a new teen job platform after speaking with their peers who reported having found babysitting, dog-walking, and retail roles through word of mouth or the odd flier nailed to a pole. The Youth Commission wanted to create a new pathway to expand employment opportunities for high school students in Westport." (Westport, CT) On Sunday, April 28th, the Westport Young Women’s League will be hosting their annual Minuteman Race from 7:00am to 11:00am. The road race begins at Compo Beach and uses many of the roads in the Compo Beach area. Organizers are expecting approximately 1300 participants. Roads in the area will be open to vehicular traffic, but motorists are advised to travel through the area safely as therewill be a significant increase of pedestrians on the roads during this event.

Westport, CT - The Conservation Department reminds Westport residents and landscape crews that starting on May 15, 2024, the use of handheld and backpack gas-powered leaf blowers are prohibited in Town. Conservation Director Colin Kelly stated, “As of Wednesday, May 15, 2024, gas powered leaf blowers may not be used during Summer. According to the Leaf Blower Ordinance, passed by the RTM in 2023, “Summer” is defined as the days beginning on May 15th and ending on October 15th of each year.” Kelly continued, “We are getting the word out now, in early spring, to remind everyone about the ordinance. Westport, CT –Director of Human Services Elaine Daignault has announced that the Town is now accepting applications for the 2024 Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program sponsored by the CT Dept. of Revenue Services (DRS). The deadline for submissions to the Town's Human Services Department is Friday, May 17, 2024. The NAA program is designed to fund municipal and tax-exempt organizations by providing a corporation business tax credit for businesses that contribute cash to these entities.
