HARTFORD – State Senator Marilyn Moore (D-Bridgeport) joined a unanimous and bipartisan vote to reappoint four ethnically and politically diverse judges to another eight-year term on the Connecticut Superior Court. Sen. Moore voted today to reappoint: Democrat Mohammad Nawaz Wahla of Glastonbury, who retired as a major after 20 years in the Pakistan Army. He received law degrees from the University of Punjab in 1974, the University of Texas at Austin in 1991 and the University of Houston in 1998, and formed his own law firm, Wahla & Associates, in 1999. 10:05pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A woman called first responders to her home in the 700 block of Lindley Street stating she was shot. EMS treated/evaluated and released the woman who was bruised and grazed. The incident took place near Boston Avenue near Orchard Street. It appears her Jeep took the brunt of the shots as police were inspecting her vehicle for bullet holes. No crime scene was established at this time. Morton Day and kick off Black History Month. Morton was elected to the state legislature and was the first black state senator. Accident Shuts Down I-95

10:29pm--#cttraffic--#Orange CT-- I-95 is shut down northbound near exit 41 for an accident involving a tractor-trailer. Radio reports say it is expected to be shut down for an extended period. Firefighters were called for extricating those trapped and about 50 gallons of diesel fuel is spilled on the highway. #Fairfield, CT (February 01, 2019): On Thursday, January 31, 2019 at approximately 8:34pm, Troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery that occurred at the Route 15 Southbound, Fairfield rest area. Witnesses on the scene described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a mask, black sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, and red sneakers who was accompanied by a juvenile black male wearing a green coat and tan pants. These individuals could be observed in the attached photographs. The adult male displayed a black handgun while the juvenile stood by the door. Radio reports said the store was robbed at gunpoint by a man in a mask man. A child was waiting outside for the robber. They fled in a car down Congress Street. This is the third robbery reported in the last month with a child waiting outside. The Corner Variety Store at 343 Wayne Street in Bridgeport was robbed on January 23rd and the clerk also reported a child was waiting for the robber and they fled in a car.
