Westport News: Criminal Impersonation

#Westport CT--On 02/07/2018 at approximately midnight, a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Jesup Road in front of the Gillespie Center. The vehicle did not have an illuminated rear marker plate and was found to have an expired registration. The operator was also unable to provide proof of valid insurance. The operator advised the officer she worked at the Gillespie Center and identified herself as the victim. She was issued a misdemeanor summons for those charges in that name.   The victim was later made aware of the stop and summons and contacted the Westport Police Department on 06/16/2018. Westport News: Theft Of Rental Car

#Westport CT--On 08/19/2018 at approximately 10:00am, an officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Post Road East. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of North Providence, Rhode Island. A motor vehicle stop was initiated and the operator was identified as Adam Sipes, 34, of Bridgeport, CT. Officers learned the vehicle was an overdue rental, which was scheduled to be returned by 07/19/2018. As of 08/03/2018, Sipes had not returned the vehicle, nor had he made additional payments to extend the rental agreement. The rental company then reported the vehicle as stolen to the North Providence Police Department. Sipes was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where he was charged with 53a-122 Larceny 1 st Motor Vehicle Theft.  …
