Bridgeport News: Car Crashes Off Highway

10:09am--#Bridgeport Connecticut--#cttraffic-- A car traveling northbound on Route 8/25 near between exits 3 and 4 came off the highway and down the embankment onto Grand Street.  The person was able to get themselves out of the car, there is no word any injuries.  If you look at the picture and follow the car's tracks you will see there is no damage to the guard rail, the car appears to have gone up and over the snow bank over the guardrail.

Fairfield News: Elderly Man Shoveled Out After Medical Emergency

#Fairfield Connecticut--How about some likes for Officer McGrath and the guys from Fairfield Fire Department Engine 2 for shoveling an elderly male's walkway after he suffered a medical emergency.  An 86 year old man was attempting to shovel his driveway when he suffered a medical emergency.  After EMS transported the man to the hospital the officer and firefighters finished shoveling his drive.

Bridgeport Declares A Snow Emergency

Bridgeport, CT – In anticipation of the pending winter storm due to impact Bridgeport beginning earlytomorrow morning, Mayor Joe Ganim today is declaring a snow emergency for the city to take effect at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, February 8, 2017.  During the snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted snow emergency streets. Alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect as of 1:00 p.m. today for all other streets throughout the city in order to allow snow plow drivers’ clear passage. Alternate side parking will be in effect until further notice.  Snow emergency streets are marked with white signs with red lettering. Bridgeport News: Funds From Hud

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim announced today that the City of Bridgeport is now accepting applications for approximately $3,200,000 in entitlement funds from the US Department of Housing Urban Development (HUD).  Organizations that provide programs and services to low or moderate income Bridgeport residents are encouraged to apply for the funds before the March 3, 2017 deadline.  Organizations that receive funds through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (HESG), HOME and Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) programs are eligible.
