(Bridgeport, CT – June 2, 2014) -- A city man faces a drunk driving charge after a three-car accident that involved a police cruiser. Officer Ryan Mullenax responded Friday to a report of an accident at Bishop and East avenues just before 9 p.m. There were no serious injuries but police noticed the operator of a vehicle that collided with the police car appeared to be impaired. The driver, Miguel Rivera, 44, of Bridgeport, acknowledged that he had drank “a couple of beers.” He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, and a subsequent breathalyzer test put his blood alcohol level at more than twice the legal limit. Rivera was charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to carry an insurance card.
