CTDOT Launches Work Zone Speed Safety Camera Pilot Program

(NEWINGTON, CT) - The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the implementation of a program to reduce speeding in work zones and improve Connecticut roadway safety. The Know The Zone: Speed Safety Camera Program will be active on April 10, 2023, in Connecticut at work zones in Norwalk and East Hartford, followed by the Route 8 corridor between Shelton and Seymour shortly thereafter. The Know the Zone: Speed Safety Camera Program is a way to increase safety for the workers on these jobs and the drivers and their passengers traveling through them. Ansonia News: Homicide Arrest

On April 6, 2023, Errol Salkey, age 18, of Ansonia was arraigned at Milford Superior Court for his involvement in the April 5, 2022 homicide of Johnny Class. Salkey, who was 17 at the time of the homicide, was taken into custody by the Orange Police Department on March 16, 2023 during an unrelated investigation and turned over to the Ansonia Police Department. Salkey was arraigned in Juvenile Court, where the case was transferred to adult court. Errol Salkey was charged with Felony Murder, Criminal Attempt at Robbery First Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery First Degree. #Bridgeport CT--On April 7, 2023, at approximately 1:05 am a ShotSpotter activation occurred at building 4 in the Greene Homes Housing Complex. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system. Ballistic evidence was collected within the housing complex. On April 7, 2023, at approximately 1:35 am the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received information that a male party presented at an area hospital suffering from a single gunshot wound to the knee. The victim is a 34-year-old man who was uncooperative and only provided conflicting information to law enforcement and hospital staff as to where the incident occurred.
