DMV Slowly Reopening

WETHERSFIELD, CT – The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles will reopen select offices on June 23, 2020. Services will be offered by appointment only. Details are below: Road Tests (Non-CDL)  Road testing will resume June 23, 2020. Approximately 1,000 road tests have been rescheduled through June 30th .  Customers are being called by DMV staff to schedule previously canceled appointments. ree Assistance to Low-Income Families with CARES Act Funds and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance

HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced his support for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and its statewide expansion. The program provides free help for Connecticut’s low-income and ALICE families to file tax returns, allowing them to receive tax credits and Coronavirus economic impact checks and to file for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits. All residents making up to $56,000 in income are eligible for the services. Administered by the Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS), the virtual VITA program is the first IRS-approved end-to-end digital portal to carry out these services, allowing it to rapidly scale operations statewide.   Residents can access the full Virtual VITA services online at www.cahs.org/covid_relief. #Norwalk CT-- Here is more info on that carjacking we reported the moment it happened: The Detective Bureau is investigating a carjacking that occurred in the area of Ward Street and Random Road. An EverReady Taxi Cab was hijacked by a passenger who was armed with a handgun. The suspect was described as a black male 5’9” weighing 200lbs, approximately 50-years old, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt with a “Batman” symbol, blue jeans, a black baseball cap, and black shoes. 2020-06-23 #Bridgeport @bptpolice-- Special thanks to Captain Brian Fitzgerald for his professionalism in providing the information requested:   On June 23, 2020, at approximately 0040 hours, a 28-year-old male called police to report he was shot at the intersection Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street. A motor vehicle accident was discovered by officers at this location with the victim seated in the driver’s seat, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital where his condition is listed as critical, but stable. #Stratford- Routine fingerprinting services for town residents will resume at the Stratford Police Department  Identification and proof of residency will be required at the time of service. Face masks are required for anyone being fingerprinted. Fingerprinting services will be limited to the below listed days and times. Homicide #8 2nd of the Day

2020-06-23@10:45pm--Police are reporting their 2nd homicide of the day, #8 of the year.  Police dispatch received a report of shots fired and a possible victim shot at 750 William Street. Officers arriving on the scene located a 53-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Detectives are processing a crime scene at this location, and are working to determine a motive for the shooting. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Detective Heanue at 203-581-5242 or the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS.
