Fairfield News: Police Investigate Untimely Death

On 04/18/2020 at approximately 10:03am the Fairfield Police Department responded to 736 Riverside Drive to check on the welfare of a resident. While checking the area, officers located a deceased middle-aged female inside the home. Detectives are currently on scene determining if, in fact, a crime occurred. The name of the deceased will be withheld until the next of kin is notified. At this time, it appears that this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the surrounding neighborhood or its residents. Fairfield News: Man With Machete Flees Homeowner With Gun

Police UPDATE: On 04/18/2020 at approximately 3:21AM, a homeowner in the 800 block of Stratfield Road reported that he found an unknown subject in his home after he was awakened by his barking dogs.  It was reported that this subject fled from the home after being confronted by the armed homeowner.  The subject was described by the homeowner as a male wearing dark clothing. The homeowner believes the suspect may be known to him from a previous incident which occurred in another town. EMS Doesn’t Seem To Get Much Credit

It's great that we are having parades for many of the first responders during this pandemic.  One group that seems to be ignored is the EMS paramedics.   Even the state shunned them when they passed a bill that expanded workers’ compensation benefits for first responders who suffer from emotional and mental impairments that result from being on duty.  Paramedics were not considered first responders in this bill.  Yet I often hear police call into the radio to "step up the medics" in some of the more traumatic calls.   To give you some perspective of what paramedics are feeling,  here is a  message I received  from a paramedic regarding working during the pandemic: "Today I am a little better. Norwalk Police Need Your Help

#Norwalk CT--The Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying a larceny suspect. Approximately $8,000 - $9,000 in construction equipment was stolen out of a locked storage container, and the suspect attempted to break into a construction vehicle. A security camera on the premises captured a picture of the suspect which is attached to this email.
