State Reminds You To Complete Census

HARTFORD, CT)- Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz is reminding Connecticut residents to check their mailboxes for an invitation to complete the 2020 Census. Beginning tomorrow, March 12, 2020, initial invitations to respond to the census online and by phone will be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to households across the state. Areas that are less likely to respond online will receive a paper questionnaire along with the invitation to respond online or over the phone. This is the beginning of the self-response operation. Westport News: Tires and Rims Theft Arrest

#Westport CT-- On the morning of December 16, 2019, Robert Mebane was involved in an incident that occurred at Honda of Westport; 1372 Post Road East. At that time, Mebane was suspected of attempting to steal wheels and tires from vehicles parked in the lot of the closed business. He was arrested for multiple charges. As a continuation of that initial investigation, a search warrant was sought and granted for a vehicle found near the scene believed to belong to Mebane. During the course of the execution of that search warrant, detectives located two Connecticut registration marker plates that had previously been reported to police as stolen. Bridgeport News: Neighbors Rescue Neighbors From Burning Home

2020-03-16@8:10pm--#Bridgeport CT—Firefighters were called to a fire at 316 Linwood Avenue. While on the way to the fire they were told that people were running into the building to rescue people inside the burning multi-family home. I caught up with Richiez Aneury who lives across the street. He said he heard people screaming, so he and his brother grabbed their portable dry chemical fire extinguishers and ran across to help. He said other neighbors also went to knock on doors and help get people out of the burning building. Gathering Restrictions

In in coordination with governors from New York and New Jersey, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 with guidance provided by US Centers for Disease Control, Governor Ned Lamont has issued the following: Restrict gatherings of more than 50 people. Order the closure of Connecticut restaurants, bars, gyms and movie theaters. Restaurants and bars will be allowed to continue food delivery and takeout. Supermarkets, pharmacies, gas stations and other essential businesses will remain open. Stratford St. Patrick Festivities Cancelled

Bridgeport News: City Offices Closing – With Pay

Mayor Ganim announces that on Monday, March 16, 2020, all City of Bridgeport government buildings will be closed and nonessential services will be suspended with offices and buildings closed until further notice. This closure excludes police and fire services, 911 dispatch, as well as sanitation and recycling pick up.
