Norwalk Police Warn Residents Following Increase in Vehicle Thefts

The Norwalk Police Department is urging residents to take simple precautions after seeing an increase in vehicle thefts across the city. Police say many of the recent thefts involved unlocked vehicles or vehicles where key fobs were left inside, making them easy targets for thieves. The department is reminding residents to always lock their vehicles, remove valuables from sight, take key fobs with them whenever they exit a vehicle, and never leave a vehicle running unattended. Police also warn drivers to be especially careful at gas stations and other public locations where thieves often take advantage of distracted motorists. Officials said even small oversights can create opportunities for criminals and encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.…

Norwalk Man Arrested in Street Robbery Investigation

The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau has arrested a Norwalk man in connection with a robbery reported on May 19, 2026, near the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Larsen Street. According to police, patrol officers responded to the area at approximately 8:57 p.m. after a victim reported that an individual grabbed him and removed a wallet from his pants pocket. The wallet reportedly contained $300 in cash. The suspect fled before officers arrived. Detectives took over the investigation, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage. Through their investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Willie Edwards, 59, of Norwalk. An arrest warrant was obtained through Stamford Superior Court and was signed on June 10, 2026. Norwalk News: February Officers Of The Month

Officer Tyrone Boyd and Officer Shoubert Paulemon were named the February 2017 Norwalk Police Department Officers of the Month. Officers Boyd and Paulemon responded to a residence for a suicidal person call. Upon their arrival, they found a very distraught person holding a knife to their throat and threatening suicide. These officers calmly talked to the person and got her/him to put the knife down. The individual was transported to the hospital for evaluation. This person recently sent a letter to Chief Kulhawik thanking the officers for saving her/his life. #Norwalk News: The Norwalk Department of Police Service currently holds (4) arrest warrants for Rashel Williams, date of birth May 25, 1981. The warrants charged Williams with larceny, ID theft, credit card fraud and forgery. Recently Williams worked at a local doctor’s office as a receptionist.
