Fire Displaces Three

Bridgeport firefighters quickly extinguished a third-floor bathroom fire at 146 George Street around 3:45 p.m. Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Ellis said Bridgeport police officers were already evacuating residents when firefighters arrived and successfully got everyone out safely.The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and did not spread beyond the bathroom. No injuries were reported, but three adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.

Bridgeport News: Firefighters Battle Sheridan Street Fire

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Sheridan Street in Bridgeport around 9:00pm on July 4th for a building fire. Deputy Chief Cody said companies arrived to find heavy fire in the rear of the building. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, knocked down the main body of the fire, and remained on scene for extensive overhaul, chasing hot spots throughout the building to make sure the fire was completely out. Cody said the crews had already been busy and were working in warm conditions, but were being rehabbed on scene. Late Night Westport House Fire

Westport firefighters were dispatched just before 11:00 PM to a reported residential structure fire on Weathervane Hill, with multiple engines, a truck company, and the shift commander responding. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke from the rear of the home and declared a working fire, but confirmed all occupants had safely exited before firefighters entered to begin an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters stretched hose lines to both the front and rear of the house to stop flames from spreading to the second floor, while additional crews established a water supply and assisted with suppression.
