Westport News: Failure To Yield To Firetruck Nets DUI Arrest

#Westport CT--On 07/28/17 at approximately 6:00pm, a Westport Officer observed a red Subaru wagon fail to pull over for a fire truck on Easton Road. The fire truck had its emergency lights and siren activated. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued onto Route 15 southbound. The Officer pursued the vehicle on Route 15 southbound, then off exit 41 where the vehicle stopped on Wilton Road. The operator, identified as Ann Otto, smelled of an unknown alcoholic beverage. Otto stated she drank two glasses of wine. Otto was then given the Standard Field Sobriety tests which she failed. Stratford News: Teen Arrested For Stolen Vehicle And Other Charges

On 08-03- 2017 Officers attempted to stop a Honda CRV that failed to stop for a stop sign on Broadbridge Avenue. Officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen from this town on the 28 th of July. The operator of the Honda drove through Bridgeport, Milford and eventually ran out of gas on I95 near exit 27. The driver who is a juvenile was charged for his involvement in the incident. Several items were located in the stolen vehicle linking the juvenile to recent thefts from cars in the Lordship area of town. Fairfield News: Police Rescue Baby From Hot Car

5:21pm--#Fairfield CT-- Police were called to BJ's Wholesale Club parking lot at 40 Black Rock Turnpike for a baby left inside a hot car. Responding officers broke the driver's door window to rescue the child. Fairfield Police Sergeant Gregg Gunther told me the baby wasn't inside for long and it appeared to be an "accident". The baby was transported to the hospital by EMS for evaluation. Gunther said that the Connecticut Department of Children and Families will be notified of the incident. Unofficially it was 82 degrees in the parking lot.

Bridgeport News: Fatal Crash After State Police Pursuit

UPDATE from Connecticut State Police: The suspect/operator, Joseph Guzman-Rivera (dob 11/06/1995) of 537 Colorado Ave., Bridgeport, CT, was taken into custody after being located in the basement of a residence on Lewis St. in Bridgeport (he did not know the residents of the home). Upon being apprehended by Connecticut State Troopers, Connecticut State Police K9 Nero and Bridgeport Police Officers, Guzman-Rivera physically assaulted K9 Nero.  Guzman-Rivera was also found in possession of heroin, crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Guzman-Rivera was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.  Upon release from the hospital Guzman-Rivera was transported to Troop G-Bridgeport where he was charged with Possession of Narcotics (3 counts), Possession of Narcotics With Intent to…

Bridgeport News: Fatal Crash After State Police Pursuit

I'm working on the details of a fatality at Iranistan and Railroad Avenue this afternoon after a pursuit.  The driver fleeing police hit two pedestrians and car resulting in at least one fatality. From the state police: Approximately 12:56 p.m. Troop G conducted a motor vehicle stop on I-95. Operator stopped, however as trooper approached the operator then fled the scene and became involved in a crash resulting in life-threatening injury.  The operator fled on foot after the crash, but has been taken into custody.

Stolen Vehicle Leads To 7 Yoots Arrested

#Westport, CT --#Norwalk CT---- On 08/09/17, at approximately 3:30am, Westport Officers were dispatched to Chapel Hill Road on a report of a motor vehicle theft in progress. The responding Officer observed a gray GMC Acadia on West Parish Road traveling at a high rate of speed. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped off onto the Post Road. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on the Post Road when it turned around suddenly and attempted to strike 2 police vehicles. Officers avoided the collision and the pursuit continued westbound on Post Road East. Westport Officers then terminated the pursuit because the speeds were high and the pursuit was dangerous. Fairfield News: Cops Nab Man Who Hit Biker And Fled

#Fairfield CT--On August 8 th , 2017 at approximately noon time,  we were first to report to you that the Fairfield Police Department’s traffic unit responded to Black Rock Tnpk near the Route 15 Southbound entrance ramp after multiple 911 calls were received reporting a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle fled the scene southbound on the Merrit Parkway. The vehicle was described as a gray vehicle with front end damage. Moments later, Officers with the Westport Police Department stopped a vehicle northbound on the Merritt Parkway near Exit 42.
