Career Coach Returns To Westport

Westport, CT -- Director of Human Services Elaine Daignault announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, January 10, 2019, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. #Norwalk Cops Of The Month

Congratulations to the November 2018 Officers of the Month, Officers Anthony del Pino, Andrew Roncinske and James Barron.  On November 4, 2018, these Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team Officers observed a male with a suspicious bulge in his waistband. Suspecting the male was in possession of a firearm, Officers approached the male, who began to run away. Officers were able to catch the male and recover a loaded .357 handgun from his waistband.  The arrest of this armed felon likely prevented future crimes.

Bridgeport Shelton To Get $ To Revitalize

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that $3.6 million in state funding is being awarded to eleven projects in eight Connecticut municipalities to assess, remediate and revitalize blighted properties in their communities – also known as “brownfields” – and put them back into productive use.  These projects encompass 59 acres of redevelopment.   Bridgeport: $600,000 to Park City Communities for the abatement, demolition, and remediation of Marina Village located at 400 Iranistan Avenue to prepare the site for creation of 150 mixed-income residential units as part of Phase 3 of the Marina Village project. Bridgeport News: Fire On Da Roof!

4:51pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Customers at Brewport and motorists traveling on I-95 called in a fire on the roof of 341 Railroad Avenue.  Firefighters arrived and immediately called a second alarm due to the potential of a fire in this abandoned building.  Deputy Fire Chief Lance Edwards said the building is abandoned but had workers in the building.  The chief said the workers had left and he was unable to speak to them regarding the blaze.  Firefighters were on scene ensuring there were no further hotspots past 6pm.
