Stratford News: Gunther’s Long Beach West Dedication

STRATFORD- A ceremony will be held for the dedication of Gunther’s Long Beach West at 10:00am on Monday, April 1, 2019.   The section of Long Beach was named after the late State Senator George “Doc” Gunther, a noted conservationist who served as State Senator from 1966- 2006.  The new name was assigned to the area by action of the Town Council in June of 2018.   Gunther’s family will be on hand for the ceremony and dedication and will receive a presentation from Mayor Laura R. Bridgeport 10 Year Master Plan Available For Review

Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport’s Planning Department has completed a draft of “Plan Bridgeport,” the city’s ten-year master plan for conservation and development.  The Plan Bridgeport project kicked off in June 2018 with four months of community outreach that included over 1,600 members of the Bridgeport community.  After another four months of aggregating all community and stakeholder feedback a written draft of the Plan has been submitted for approval to the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission. Stratford News: No Tax Increase Planned

STRATFORD- Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick formally presented her proposed operating budget for FY 2020 to the Town Council this evening, offering a plan that holds the line on taxes, continues efforts to streamline services and efficiencies, and sets policy priorities for the Town.  “Last year we were able to stop the harmful cycle of compounding tax increases by offering a modest tax decrease, and I am proud to present a budget this year that builds off of this, without any tax increases,” said Mayor Hoydick.  The $228.3 million budget spends 3.29% over the prior year, with a Grand List growth of 1.40%, holding the mill rate at 39.90.   The Mayor noted that significant challenges for the town remain depending on final state…
