Bridgeport News: Rooming House Fire

2022-05-23@1:34am--#Bridgeport CT--The Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a party indicating smoke was filling up a room on the 2nd floor in the 100th block of West Liberty Street. Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched and upon arrival came across a fire on second floor that extended to third of a three story rooming house. One occupant was evacuated by ladder. STRATFORD LIBRARY HOLDS ANNUAL BOOK SALE JUNE 3-5 Board Fund-Raiser Begins June 3rd with “Advance Sale”             The Stratford Library will return with its annual book sale Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5, 2022.  The sale, which is a major fund-raiser for the library, is being organized this year by the Board of Trustees under Co-chairmen Sue Johnson and Beth DaPonte of Stratford.              Browsers at this year’s sale will find thousands of books, videos, DVDs and audio tapes at bargain prices covering every conceivable subject from religion, business, music and art to philosophy, science fiction, biography, non-fiction and best-sellers.  The initial sale will commence with an “Advance Sale” on Friday, June 3 from 5-8 pm.  There is a $5 entry fee with all books full price. Bridgeport News: Man Shot

2022-05-22@11:00pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A man was shot in the stomach in the 1200 block of Howard Avenue. EMS was directed to park in a safe area until police cleared the scene. As they arrived at Howard Avenue at North Avenue a car waved them down that had the victim in the car. EMS took the patient along with a police escort. The condition of the victim is not known at this time. Detectives are on scene and the area is closed off at this time. Neighbors said they heard four gunshots.
