AMAZON DRIVER INJURED WITH A WEAPON IN POSSIBLE ROBBERY IN THE SOUTH END ON TUESDAY MORNING
The Bridgeport Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating the injury of an Amazon delivery driver with a weapon Tuesday morning in what was likely an attempted robbery.
Shortly before noon Tuesday, the injured driver pulled up to a Metropolitan Transit Authority police officer working at Railroad Avenue and Myrtle Avenue and reported he was just slashed in the face with a weapon on Park Terrace in the city’s South End. He was bleeding heavily. The driver was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital by ambulance with a significant wound to his face. It is not considered life-threatening.
The 28-year-old victim told a responding Bridgeport Police officer that he was making a delivery in his private car when he was boxed in by two suspects on motor scooters dressed in black clothing, black face masks, and helmets. The victim said one of the scooters struck his car. He said when he confronted the suspects, one of them slashed him in the face.
The suspects fled east on Railroad Avenue on the scooters afterwards.
The victim’s car was driven from Railroad Avenue and Myrtle Avenue by a family member.
Police believe the incident was likely an intended robbery.
