Fairfield News: Skimming Scam Device Found

The Fairfield Police Department is alerting the community about a skimming device found on an ATM at the Mobil Gas Station, located at 1271 Stratfield Road, on Monday, July 1. An ATM repair technician discovered the device, but it is unknown when it was placed there. If you have used this ATM, review your bank statements for any unauthorized withdrawals and consider contacting your bank to request a replacement card if you notice suspicious activity. To protect yourself from skimming devices, inspect the card reader for any loose, bulky, or misaligned parts, and examine the keypad to see if it is thicker than usual or appears to be a fake overlay. LOCAL RESIDENT DROWNS WHILE SWIMMING AT TRUMBULL’S PINEWOOD LAKE

A Trumbull man died late Wednesday, July 3, 2024, after his body was pulled from the water at Pinewood Lake, in the Nichols section of Trumbull, just after 7:00 p.m. William Krahe, age 38, was transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead after police and re department personnel located him underwater and brought him to shore. Krahe had been at the lake with family members and was swimming near a oating dock that is anchored a short distance from the shoreline beach, when he went under the water and did not surface. Mayor Ganim and the City of Bridgeport Remind Residents of Household Bulk Pickup for its Second Phase

Bridgeport, CT – This year’s Household Bulk Trash Pickup Program has returned for its second phase of the season. This program gives residents the opportunity to discard large items, such as furniture and appliances, that may be difficult to transport to the Transfer Station and are not part of regular weekly trash collection. The program will have different guidelines for removal this year, where residents will be able to discard trash on scheduled date periods specified by the Department of Public Facilities, depending on the district. The City of Bridgeport Receives Grant Funding for Community-led Sustainability Projects

Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport was recently awarded the Partners for Places grant, led by The Funders Network (TFN) in partnership with the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN). The $150,000 grant will be partnered with matched funds from the Barr Foundation and William Caspar Graustein Foundation, in which the City has received $90,000. The grant will allow Bridgeport to build community resilience through collaborative environmental education, including the co-creation of a climate resilience curriculum that can be used by community leaders throughout the city. The annual PAL fireworks display is set for Tuesday July 2, 2024, with a raindate of Wednesday July 3, 2024. This is the largest annual Westport event featuringheavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic affecting all roads south of Greens FarmsRoad between Compo Road South and Hillspoint Road. It is recommended thatspectators plan to arrive early as traffic delays are inevitable. Daytime CompoBeach visitors are reminded that the beach closes at 4:00 PM.
