DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Stranger Danger

POLICE UPDATE: On July 14, 2019 at approximately 2312hrs, a young woman walking on Alfred street was flagged down by male individual who attempted to get her to agree to enter the vehicle he was operating. The young woman declined. Shortly after, she shared the information with her mother who called police. Police located the suspect who was later identified as Juan Quechol-Mecatl shortly after. The vehicle he operated had misused plates. He was then place under arrest and transported to booking. Juan Quechol-Mecatl’s charges are below. Bridgeport New: Fire Strikes Apartment Building

2019-07-14 @ 2:29pm--#Bridgeport CT-- There was a fire on the third floor of a large apartment complex at 50 Monroe Street.  Firefighter's quick response kept the fire contained to the one apartment.  Deputy Fire Chief Ronald Rolfe said that the people in that apartment probably won't be able to return to their apartment and that they are still assessing if everyone else can return to the other apartments.  Animal Control was called for two rescued cats.  There were no reported injuries.

Bridgeport News: 2 Shot In Bridgeport

Police UPDATE: Police confirmed that two people were shot. One in the hip, and the other in the legs. Non life threatening injuries. One firearm recovered but no arrests were made. 2019-07-13 @ 11:29pm--#Bridgeport--Police received a call for a street fight in the 800 block of Kossuth Street (near Arctic Street). Updated reports said there were shots fired. Police were already on Pearl Street for a structure fire and were quickly on the scene and found two people shot. One went to the hospital by private vehicle and the second person was treated and transported by EMS. A firearm was recovered from the scene. The condition of the two victims is not known at this time.

Bridgeport News: Possible Structure Fire

2019-07-13 @ 11:00pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters called to the 200 block of Pearl Street for a possible structure fire, smoke reported on the 3rd floor.  Firefighters arrive to find an odor of smoke and a burned resident.  Firefighters investigate and find the fire was possibly on the outside of the structure and are taking care of it.  If you parked blocking the hydrant at Kossuth and Berkshire the police have a surprise for you!   This news report is made possible by:
