DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Norwalk News: Drug Arrest

#Norwalk CT-- On March 13, 2018, members of the Special Services Division and the Detective Bureau conducted a joint operation within the City of Norwalk. Detective Brendan Collins had previously secured an arrest warrant for Andre Roberts. This stemmed from an investigation into a home invasion that occurred on November 23, 2018 at 7 Midwood Road. At the time of the home invasion Roberts was a resident of 7 Midwood Road. During the investigation into the home invasion, Detectives located and seized 700 Xanax pills, 1.5 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, $9,000 cash and numerous Ziploc plastic bags consistent with those used to package marijuana for sale. Senator Moore Testifies On Water Company Foreclosurers

#HARTFORD, CT— Senator Marilyn Moore (D-Bridgeport) today delivered testimony to the General Assembly’s Planning and Development Committee in support of House Bill 5509, legislation that would protect Connecticut homeowners from unfair and abusive Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) proceedings and charges that sometimes result in wrongful home foreclosures. Sen. Moore has received numerous complaints from homeowners in Bridgeport who say that the local WPCA is using predatory and discriminatory billing tactics. Based on investigative work by Sen. 5 With Flats On The Moses Wheeler Bridge

11:33pm--#cttraffic--#Milford CT--#Stratford CT-- State Police are doing a "slow roll" down the southbound side of the Moses Wheeler Bridge on I-95 between exits 32 and 33.  At least five separate cars have received flat tires.  Police are looking for any debris in the roadway that could be causing this.  In the past, the expansion joints on the bridge were the culprit.

Senator Tony Hwang Shaves Head For St. Baldrick’s

Connecticut State Senator Tony Hwang had his head shaved Friday night at Osborne Hill School in Fairfield  to benefit cancer research, as part of St. Baldrick's "Team Teddy." The Team Teddy page says "Team Teddy was founded in honor of Teddy Gerber, who was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma in 2009, when he was just 8 years old. After bravely fighting his illness for nine months, Teddy died on August 16, 2010, aged 9 1/2. Westport News: Credit Card Counterfeiting

#Westport CT-- At approximately 11:00am on 3/15/18, officers were dispatched to a local liquor store on a report of a male that had just made a suspicious purchase. The store employee provided a description of the suspect and advised officers the suspect made a purchase with a Visa gift card. Another officer located a male matching the suspect description walk into a local restaurant and followed him inside. He overheard the suspect’s credit card purchase get declined. The officer approached the suspect and learned he had also made a purchase at another local liquor store just prior. The suspect was identified as Damion Hollis, 29, of Mount Vernon, NY.
