His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

#Bridgeport News: Bridgeport Police are looking for two suspects responsible for a home invasion that took place on the Eastside of Bridgeport on 09/13/18 at 165/167 Barnum Ave.   The suspects assaulted the female victim but they were scared off when the victim yelled out for help and one of her children was heard coming down the stairs. The suspects did not take anything from the house. Operation Fuel partners with local government and community-based organizations at more than 100 sites throughout Connecticut to ensure that families in need have access to year-round energy assistance. The application process is already in progress and runs through Wednesday, October 31, 2018 or when the funding runs out. One-time grants of up to $500 per household for deliverable fuel, gas and electric utilities are available to qualified individuals. To qualify for electric utility, clients must have a shut-off notice, have no utility service, must need assistance to maintain a payment arrangement or have a past due balance of 30 days or more. The City of Bridgeport EOC is monitoring the potential storm tracks for tonight into tomorrow, especially with the slight risk of Flash Flooding. Here is an update concerning the flash flooding threat for late tonight and Friday morning.   As low pressure approaches from the Mid-Atlantic region late tonight and passes over or just south of New York City and Long  Island on Friday, rain could become heavy at times from latetonight into Friday morning. Rainfall of at least 3/4" to 1 inch is expected, with locally higher amounts up to 2 inches. Bridgeport News: Stratford Avenue To Get Grocery Store/Plaza

Mayor Joe Ganim joined city leaders to announce the development team in a retail development at 1206 Stratford Avenue which would include a grocery store, Optimus Health Care, a pharmacy, restaurant, laundromat, and a hair salon. Mayor Ganim said the proposed grocery store signed up was Gala Foods Supermarket which has two locations in the city.   Demolition of a large area has already taken place. The demolition of the old Newfield will commence soon. Construction of the plaza is expected in the spring of 2019. House of Hope Ribbon-Cutting to Kick Off 8th Annual Food Drive

#Bridgeport CT--St. Vincent’s Health Services and Aquarion Water Company launched their 8th Annual “House of Hope” Food Drive with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Running until November 16, 2018, the House of Hope aims to help reduce hunger throughout the Greater Bridgeport area.   In an effort to fight hunger with healthy foods, the organizers ask that only nutritious, non-perishable, non-expired items be donated. Last year more than seven tons of food were donated and organizers hope to surpass that total this year.   The House of Hope committee is taking a step beyond simply collecting foodstuffs by attempting to educate both recipients and donors alike about healthy food choices.
