DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Suspect Arrested in May 21 Robbery

#Bridgeport, CT – May 29, 2014– Police arrested a 19-year-old Bridgeport man in connection with the robbery of a 56-year-old woman in their apartment building. On Wednesday, Detective Michael Fiumidinisi received information that the suspect in a May 21 robbery had been seen inside 199 Yacht St., the same apartment building where the robbery occurred. Detectives Fiumidinisi and Chris Borona responded to the location with Officers Omar Jimenez, Michael Salemme and Matthew Goncalves. The detectives and officers checked the building and located a person matching the description of the robber. The victim subsequently identified the suspect, Wilberto Toribio,  as the one who robbed and assaulted her last week. Fairfield News: Car Crashes Into Hemlock Hardware

10:27am--#Fairfield CT--An elderly woman stopped at Hemlock Hardware on the Post Road this morning.   As she was leaving,  her foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas.  The car lunged forward hitting the building.  The woman was not injured.  Damage to the building was to the foundation's cinder blocks.  The building inspector was called to inspect.  If the damage was significant, our friends at Servpro would have made it like it never even happened.

Westport Little League Embezzlement

In March of this year the board of the Westport Little League contacted the Westport Police Department regarding the results from their yearly internal audit. Board members presented the results of the audit which showed that over $40,000.00 worth of funds and equipment were unaccounted for. All of the items were found to emanate from one individual who was given authorization from the board to order equipment and submit expense reports for reimbursement. The investigation then focused on this individual who was interviewed by detectives and eventually admitted to falsifying invoices, cancelling orders after submitting invoices for equipment so that payment was made to him by the league but the items were never delivered, billing the league for clinics that…

Bridgeport Mayor Finch on One-Year Moratorium for Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
