His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

College Scholarships For Low Income Families

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Ned Lamont and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell today announced that CSDE has teamed up with the College Board to launch a supplemental pool of scholarship funds available to students from lower-income families starting with the class of 2020. As of June 1, 2019, these students who join the national College Board Opportunity Scholarships program are eligible for an additional $40,000 in scholarships per year.   The College Board has committed $25 million over five years to the new program and has already awarded over $1 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 students across the country, including 15 in Connecticut.   “These scholarships offer a great opportunity for high school…

Bridgeport News: Mom Arrested On Child Abandonment

#Bridgeport CT-- Officers were dispatched to Newfield Park on a report of a child abandonment. R/O was at the intersection of Carnegie Avenue and Boston Avenue when the initial call was dispatched. Officers responded to Newfield park, Bridgeport where Officer Rodriguez was already on scene, Rodriguez confirmed the location of a lost child at the park bench nearest to the water park and playground.  Officer Rodriguez was observed sitting on the park bench surrounded by at least 10 small children and about 5 adults and was assessing the injuries on a child, and asking a series of questions to the adults on scene.  A gash was visible  on right cheek of the small child. Norwalk News: 33 Year Old Cold Case Of 11 Year Old Murder Arrest

#Norwalk CT: On Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:20 am, members of the Maine State Police Major Crime Unit of Troop E Bangor along with their Tactical Unit arrested Marc J Karun of Stetson Maine as a Fugitive from Justice as he left his residence. The arrest occurred while Lieutenant Art Weisgerber and Sergeant Alex Tolnay were in Bangor, Maine to execute an arrest warrant for Marc Karun for the sexual assault and murder of Kathleen Flynn on September 23rd, 1986. At this time, Karun is being held at the Penobscot County Jail until his terms of extradition are determined. July 9th Deadline for Connecticut Small Businesses to Apply for SBA Working Capital Loans

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding businesses in Connecticut that working capital loans are still available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives; small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private nonprofit organizations affected by severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds on May 15, 2018. “Businesses that suffered economic losses as a result of the disaster and want to apply for low-interest loans from the SBA are urged to do so before the July 9 deadline,” said Kem Fleming, Director of SBA Field Operations Center East. Low-interest disaster loans are available in the following counties: Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex and New Haven in Connecticut.
