Bridgeport, CT—Today the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) provided City officials with an status update regarding the Police Chief search for the City of Bridgeport. Twenty-seven applications were submitted to IACP. Of the twenty-seven applications, nineteen were selected to move on the second phase. This phase involved an oral testing process designed by the IACP, where candidates were evaluated based on traits identified in the job analysis. A group of subject matter experts chosen by the IACP performed this evaluation. As of August 10th, eleven out of the nineteen applicants had received an oral test score of at least 75. While investigating the incident Police located two people who fled the scene. They were apprehended after a brief chase on person was apprehended and a firearm was recovered. That person was later identified as Joshua Agosto, 19 years of age from Bridgeport was charged with the following: 53a-212 STEALING FIREARM 1 count, 29-35(a) CARRYING PISTOL WO PERMIT 1 count, 53-203 ILL DISCHARGE OF FIREARM 1 count, 53a-180aa BREACH OF PEACE 1ST DEG 1 count, 53a-216 CRIMINAL USE OF WEAPON 1 count, 53a-63 RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT 1ST DEG 3 counts, and 53a-167a INTERFERE WITH OFFCR/RESISTING 1 count. There is a multi-car crash near Washington Avenue but the driver has not been located at this time. 2021-08-21@1:29pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called to Popeyes at 287 North Avenue for a fire in the fryolator. The fire was out on their arrival. Firefighters checked the roof for a smoke condition. Firefighters also ventilated the restaurant for smoke inside. Popeyes is closed until the health department gives them the approval to reopen.
