2022-05-30@9:53pm–#Bridgeport CT– Firefighters were called to North Avenue at Dewey/Howard Avenue for a two car crash with injuries and extrication. There was heavy passenger door intrusion on the black car.

2022-05-30@7:45pm–#Bridgeport CT– Witnesses told me they heard a shot fired, then a crash in the 1800 block of Stratford Avenue. Police found no victims at the scene nor at the hospital at this time. There was also another incident around the block on Connecticut Avenue but that appears to be a separate incident.

2022-05-30@1:02pm–#Bridgeport CT– A person on a scooter collided with a vehicle and died on Balsam and Sylvan Avenue. Expect the area closed for an extended period. Frank Recchia of News12 will have a live report shortly and I will share his report.

On May 27, 2022 at approximately 10:00 pm members of The Bridgeport Police Department Narcotics and Vice Division conducted proactive motor vehicle enforcement in the downtown area of Bridgeport.

While traveling on Lafayette Square, Officers observed a silver Infiniti I35 turn onto Golden Hill Street without utilizing a proper turn signal.  The vehicle was also being operated with an obscured paper license plate.

As a result of these violations a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Golden Hill Street. 

The operator of the vehicle was identified as 33-year-old Seth Williams of Bridgeport Connecticut.  Williams told the officers that he did not have a driver’s license (suspended since June 2007).  Williams was also unable to produce proof of registration or insurance.  Williams exited the vehicle at which time narcotics were observed in the operator/passenger compartment area – in close proximity to where he was seated.  Williams was then placed under arrest.   Subsequent to Williams arrest, 27 pills were located on his person that tested positive for the presence of MDMA (Ecstasy).   Seth Williams is charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Illegal Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Failure to Keep Narcotics in Original Container, Falsifying a Marker Plate/Registration, Operating Under Suspension, and Failure to Use Proper Turn Signal.  Bond is set at $150,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 31, 2022.

The only other occupant of the vehicle was seated in the front passenger seat.  That person was identified as 33-year-old Jason Sampson of Norwalk Connecticut.  Officers instructed Sampson to exit the vehicle as it was going to be towed.  Upon his exit Officers observed a loaded Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun (with high capacity magazine) positioned in the passenger side door compartment of the vehicle.  Sampson was also placed under arrest.  He is a convicted felon who is currently on probation & parole and listed on the Connecticut Deadly Weapons Offender Registry.  Jason Sampson is charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle,  Illegal Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.  Bond is set at 150,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on May 31, 2022.  Parole has been notified.

This is the 40^th firearm recovered by BPD Narcotics and Vice Officers this year.

2022-05-29 Midnightish–Two crashes, first one at Fairfield and Brewster Street. Another crash involving a motorcycle on Seaview Avenue, the motorcyclist was injured.

2022-05-28@10:38pm–#Bridgeport CT– EMS transported two children with unknown injuries after this crash at North and Wells Street. There was a smaller secondary crash after first responders departed according to radio reports.

2022-05-28@3:15pm–#Bridgeport CT–A falling tree at Success Village in Bridgeport today causing thousands of dollars in property damage, but not forcing anyone out of their home. That’s the word from officials at the complex, who say the tree came down during heavy rain this afternoon. There were no injuries.

2022-05-28@5:02pm–#Bridgeport CT– A car hit the liquor store at 1370 East Main Street causing minor damage to the building.

2022-05-28@5:20pm–#Bridgeport CT–Just before 5:30 Saturday morning police and EMS were called to Knoll Place an unresponsive, woman. The 30 year old woman who was found shot to death. Detectives are on scene and are working some strong leads according to police. This appears to have been an isolated incident where the victim knew the shooter. This is Bridgeport’s 8^th homicide of the year.
