#Bridgeport CT--On May 9Th, 2022 at approximately 8:30 pm the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received reports of a shooting within the 100 block of Washington Terrace. Upon arrival, patrol officers located a 38-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived and transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died. Currently, the Detective Bureau’s Homicide & Identification Units are actively investigating and processing the crime scene. They are also in the process of notifying next of kin. Bridgeport News: March Shooting Becomes Homicide #6

On March 16, 2022, at approximately 5:20 pm, Bridgeport Police responded to 590 East Main Street (rear parking lot) on the report of party shot at that location.  Upon arrival officers observed a victim, later identified as Thomas Asbury DOB 7/26/1999, laying on the ground in the parking lot next to a vehicle.  He was suffering from two gunshot wounds to the torso.  AMR ambulance arrived and transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital.  The Detective Bureau responded to conduct their investigation and process the crime scene. Mr. Asbury never recovered from his injuries and ultimately passed away last night at Bridgeport Hospital (May 6, 2022). On May 5. 2022, at approximately 1842 hours Detective T. Toth and Detective S. Mirtsopoulus were traveling east on Congress Street and stopped for a red light at Congress Street and Housatonic Avenue. Both detectives observed a group people riding stand-up electric scooters on the sidewalk. The group was traveling north on the sidewalk of Housatonic Avenue. The detectives observed the last scooter being operated by a female with a young child. The female and young child attempted to cross the intersection of Housatonic Avenue and Congress Street. The female lost control of the scooter and crashed into a metal pole with a crosswalk button on the northeast sidewalk on Housatonic Avenue. MAYOR HOYDICK VOTES AGAINST SALE OF SIKORSKY AIRPORT TO CONNECTICUT AIRPORT AUTHORITY 

STRATFORD – During a Special Meeting late yesterday afternoon the Sikorsky Memorial Airport Commission voted in favor of selling the airport to the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA).  The vote was conducted over the objection of Mayor Laura R. Hoydick who cast the lone vote in opposition as the only Stratford member of the Commission.  In March of this year, when Bridgeport changed their position from wanting to enter into an operator agreement with the CAA for the airport to outright selling it to them, Mayor Hoydick publicly expressed interest in pursuing the purchase of the airport by Stratford.  The airport, owned by the City of Bridgeport since 1937, is entirely situated within the territorial boundaries of Stratford.  “We have expressed the concerns…
