Bridgeport News: Robbery Charges And Others

#Bridgeport CT– On 9/15/21, Roberto Encarnacion aka “Spirit” DOB: 2/12/86 was taken into custody by Task Force members of the Bridgeport Police Department for an outstanding felony warrant charging him with Robbery in the 1st Degree and other related offenses, with a court set bond at $500,000.  During Roberto’s arrest, he was found to be in possession of a 9mm Ruger firearm and Roberto is a convicted felon preventing him from possessing a firearm.  While in custody, Roberto was served with an additional 6 outstanding warrants with an additional total bond of $292,500.  The apprehension of Roberto Encarnacion was made possible through the efforts of the Bridgeport Police Task Force members, Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, and Fusion Center.   This is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are anticipated.  Anyone with information regarding Roberto Encarnacion is encouraged to contact Det. Bridgeport News: Child Found

2021-08-30@6:06pm–#Bridgeport CT– Another child has been found in the streets, this time at James and Linen Avenue. EMS on the way to evaluate the child. A Bridgeport child was located about a half hour ago by Mercedes Benz dealership on Scofield Avenue.

Bridgeport News: Criminal Possession Of Firearm

#Bridgeport CT– On August 27, 2021 at approximately 11:10 am, Task Force Officers from
Bridgeport PD received speedy information about Dionte Jones DOB 7/22/1999
who is well known to the Task Force. Task Force Officers had prior information
that Jones had access to several firearms and was currently in possession of a tan
semi-auto with extended magazine. Jones is a convicted felon and has no legal
right to possess a firearm or ammunition. Task Force Officers quickly learned that
Jones was seated in a vehicle at 500 Park Avenue near Roots Man. Jones is
currently wanted and has five (5) active warrants out of Bridgeport.


Task Force Officers surrounded the vehicle Jones was in and as they approached
immediately saw Jones moving about. While removing him from the vehicle, TFO’s
saw in plain view a tan semi-auto firearm with a 30-round extended magazine
behind the driver’s seat on the floor. Jones was arrested without incident. The
firearm was now confirmed to be a “Ghost Gun”. It was later learned that besides
having five active warrants out of Bridgeport he is also wanted out of Fairfield.
Jones was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of
Ammunition, Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine, Weapon in a Motor Vehicle,
Carrying a Pistol without Permit, Obliterated Serial Number and Illegal Sale,
Delivery or Transfer of a Firearm. Bond set at $250,000. The five Bridgeport
warrants were also executed totaling an additional court set bonds of $275,000.
Jones is being held on a total of $525,000 pending arraignment Monday.

Bridgeport Police Investigate Homicide #12

Bridgeport Police UPDATE: On August 28, 2021, at approximately 12:31 p.m. Bridgeport Police responded to the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue on the report of a motor vehicle accident with shots fired and a party down

.The operator and sole occupant of a red Honda CR-V had been shot and involved in a motor vehicle accident. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Jamel Hayden of Bridgeport Ct, was quickly transported to St Vincent’s where he later died .The Detective Bureau Homicide and Identification Units have responded and taken charge of the investigation. Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation and working on several strong leads. Evidence at the crime scene has been processed and the area around 100 Lincoln Avenue is currently open to the normal flow of traffic.

2021-08-28@12:31pm–#Bridgeport CT–Police received a call for a car accident in the mid-100 block of Lincoln Avenue but were also receiving calls for shots fired in the area. Firefighters discovered that the person was in fact shot and called for the Lucas device, mechanical chest compression device to the scene and asked EMS who was staged because of the shots fired to “step it up”.

The driver hit 3 vehicles possibly due to being shot while driving. A crime scene was set up and detectives called to the scene. Multiple sources have told me the victim died from his wounds.

Bridgeport News: Firearm Recovery

#Bridgeport CT– On August 19, 2021 at approximately 1:07 pm the Bridgeport Police Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) responded to the intersection of Arctic Street and Pembroke Street on a report of a person in that area with a firearm.  Upon officers arrival the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Kevin Despres of Middletown Connecticut, observed the police vehicles and immediately began to run away from them unsolicited.

Officers engaged the suspect in foot pursuit and observed Despres grabbing at his waist band. Despres then pulled a handgun from his waistband.  As Despres was running away, he tripped and fell to the ground allowing the police officers to catch up to him and take him into custody without further incident.  A loaded .22 caliber pistol was recovered.

Despres does not possess a valid CT pistol permit and is currently on probation in Middletown, CT.  Despres was charged with Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Interfering with a Police Officer.  Bond is set at $100,000.  He is schedule to appear in court on August 20, 2021.

Bridgeport News: Police Involved Shooting

UPDATE:

On June 15, 2021 at approximately 10:12pm, a Bridgeport police officer assigned to the federal Safe Streets
task force was involved in a shooting in the area of Main St. and Catherine St. in the city of Bridgeport. The victim was transported to the hospital, treated for non life-threatening injuries, and released. Connecticut State Police personnel were not involved in this incident. The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crimes Squad has assumed this investigation at the request of the Bridgeport State’s Attorney’s Office. The Bridgeport State’s Attorney requested that the Stamford State’s Attorney oversee the investigation. All further comments on this incident will be provided by the Stamford State’s Attorney or the Bridgeport Police Department.

2021-06-15@10:16pm #Bridgeport CT– There was undercover work with police and FBI liaisons at Main and Catherine Street that resulted in a crash and shoot out with police involved.  I heard on the radio that the officer was injured in the crash and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and one of the suspects was shot. and is expected to be okay.

Bridgeport News: Two Police Officers Injured

2021-05-25-#Bridgeport CT–Police said two officers were injured in two seperate calls tonight. Scott Appleby said “Two separate incidents one officer reportedly injured when a vehicle struck his cruiser near I-95. The other was injured in a foot pursuit in PT. Both non-life threatening and both still being investigated” No details on either call was given.

Dog Starts Fire In Bridgeport

2021-05-13@9:44pm–#Bridgeport CT– Deputy Chief Buck said when they arrived on Pixlee Place, they were met with heavy fire on the third floor. Once they began “opening up” the fire became too intense and they had to sound the evaluation tones to get all the firefighters out of the building. They then got the fire under control and then worked to put out the hot spots. Third floor tenant Evan Werner said his friend that was dog sitting said their dog Ruby knocked over a candle onto a bed which started the fire. ​Everyone made it out safely. One firefighter received an electrical shock and is being treated. He is in stable condition.
