Bridgeport News: Structure Fire

UPDATE: One occupant was rapidly transported to the hospital due to injuries consistent with a fall from an upper floor window. Three other occupants were transported due to smoke inhalation.
2020-04-13@8:15am–#Bridgeport CT– Structure fire on Laurel Court. When firefighters arrived they found heavy fire in the rear of the building on the 2nd floor. The fire quickly spread to the 3rd floor and the attic. Everyone made it out safely. One firefighter slipped on the roof but caught himself with the latter of the aerial truck. He was checked out by EMS and was reported to be okay. There are no reported injuries. Red Cross was called to help with immediate needs and lodging. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.

Bridgeport News: Crash With Entrapment

Police UPDATE:

On April 13, 2020 at approximately 2:07 am, Bridgeport Patrol Officers responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on Barnum Avenue between Helen Street and Central Avenue.

This was a single-car motor vehicle accident involving a 24-year-old Bridgeport man operating a gray 2005 Chrysler Pacifica van.  There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Barnum Avenue when it crossed over into the westbound lane and struck the abandoned Remington Arms Munitions Factory located at 939 Barnum Avenue.  The vehicle came to a stop in the westbound lane of Barnum Avenue; sustaining heavy front end damage.

Bridgeport Fire Department responded and extricated the driver from the vehicle.  The driver was transported to Bridgeport Hospital by AMR Ambulance and is listed in critical condition.

The Bridgeport Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team has responded to conduct further investigation.  Anyone with additional information, related to this crash, is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Department’s Traffic Division (Officer Aaron Rivera) at 203-576-7640.

 

2020-04-13@2:10am–#Bridgeport CT– One person was unconscious and trapped inside their vehicle at a crash at Barnum and Helen Street.   Firefighters were called to extricate.   The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot.

 

 

 

Bridgeport News: Multi-Town Pursuit Ends In Bridgeport

2020-04-13@1:40am—#Bridgeport CT– Norwalk police located a stolen silver Jaguar but broke off on I-95 northbound.  Westport and state police pursued the vehicle into Fairfield but lost the car in Bridgeport off exit 26.  An alert Bridgeport Police officer located the car when the “BOLO” (Be On The Look Out) went out near buildings 5 and 6 at PT Barnum Housing.  The suspects fled towards building 12.  Additional Bridgeport Police officers arrived and located the suspect on St. Stephen’s Road where they capture 3 suspects.

 

Bridgeport News: Police Put Out Porch Fire

2020-04-12@12:33am–#Bridgeport CT– Police, who are usually first on the scene of most fires were able to extinguish a porch fire in the 800 block of Hancock Avenue with the extinguishers the carry in the cars.  Firefighters arrived and ensured it was completely out and that it did not extend anywhere else.
