Basement Fire

Bridgeport Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Carroll Avenue for a fire in the basement of a multi-family house. Their efforts were delayed because the first floor was boarded up. They made entry and found a couch and chair on fire in the basement which they quickly extinguished. Bridgeport News: Structure Fire

Around 5:00AM the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire located around 1000 Madison Ave. First unit reported heavy fire on the second floor. A second alarm was struck for additional resources. Primary and secondary searches were conducted and negative. Mutual aid was provided by Fairfield and Stratford. The fire was declared under control at 5:45AM. None of the residents required assistance from the Red Cross. The two businesses on the first floor received water damage.

Bridgeport Police Arrest Teen After ShotSpotter Activation

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:57 PM, Bridgeport officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation reporting five rounds fired in the 1000 block of Park Avenue. A concerned citizen also contacted the Emergency Operations Center, reporting gunshots and seeing a male in the backyards of the area. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and noticed freshly pressed shoe prints in the snow despite active snowfall. Following the footprints, officers tracked them to the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of Herkimer Street, where they discovered 18-year-old Giovanni Gonzalez hiding. Further investigation led officers to retrace the footprints, where they recovered a Sig Sauer P226 firearm equipped with a 20-round 9mm high-capacity magazine. The firearm was seized as evidence.…

VIOLENT FUGITIVE WANTED FOR 2009 MURDER IN BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT LOCATED IN SPAIN AND EXTRADITED BACK TO THE UNITED STATES

WANDERSON MARQUES – WANTED FOR THE AUGUST 2, 2009, MURDER OF HAROLD GANTT – OUTSTANDING EXTRADITABLE MURDER WARRANT OUT OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT On August 2, 2009, Bridgeport Police responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment complex located within the 200 block of Madison Avenue. When police arrived, they found the victim, Harold Gantt, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Harold Gantt was 49 years old at the time of his death. The Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau responded and took charge of the investigation. The investigation suggests there was an ongoing verbal disagreement between Wanderson Marques and Harold Gantt. On the date of the incident, both parties resided in the same complex…
