Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport snow emergency is still in effect today, January 5, 2018 and until further notice to allow for continued citywide snow clean up and plow service. During the snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted SNOW EMERGENCY streets and ADDITIONAL STREETS WILL BE POSTED to allow snow plow drivers to clear passages. Snow emergency streets are marked with white signs with red lettering. A list of snow streets can be found on the City’s website by clicking here. Sanitation/ Recycling Sanitation and recycling collection will RESUME ON MONDAY with normal schedule. Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim has announced City of Bridgeport City Hall and City Hall Annex city services employees will not report to work due to the snowfall and inclement conditions today, Thursday, January 4, 2018. Bridgeport Public Schools have announced that schools will be closed on Thursday, January 4, 2018. All City of Bridgeport public parks will be closed. Mayor Ganim encourages residents to remain home and off the roads during this snowfall with blinding winds for their safety, and to allow plows to continue working to clear the city streets. 5:44pm-- #Bridgeport CT--Police said a man was shot at the intersection of State and Howard Avenue. He then fled towards Fairfield Avenue and collapsed feet away from the intersection in front of 798 Howard Avenue. Police spokesperson Av Harris said his wounds are not life-threatening and that they have one person in custody.
#Bridgeport, CT (December 29, 2017): Connecticut State Troopers arrested a Bridgeport man and seized weapons, narcotics and cash following a traffic stop. On December 28, 2017 at approximately 4:15 p.m., troopers were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-95 in the Bridgeport area when they observed a vehicle with a windshield violation. Troopers stopped the vehicle on Lafayette Street in Bridgeport. Upon stopping the vehicle, troopers saw the operator reach under the front seat. The operator, Rodney Crawley, was removed from the vehicle and patted down resulting in troopers finding him in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun. Crawley was then taken into custody, at which time 148 bags of crack, 11 bags of marijuana, 10 bags of cocaine and two…
#Bridgeport CT--The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Investigation Team responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car on the 600 block of Sylvan Ave at approximately 8:10pm on Dec 29th. Nathaniel Dubose, 66, of Bridgeport was walking on Sylvan Ave when he was struck by grey or silver car travelling south on Sylvan Ave. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene. Mr. Dubose, who sustained severe head trauma, was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital by medics where he died as a result of his injuries. The investigation is continuing. 8:14pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police have Sylvan Avenue between Wilkins Avenue closed down after a man was struck by a car that fled the scene. Radio reports said he was bleeding from the head and in "very serious condition. The police accident recreation team will be on scene and the road will be closed for the investigation.
