Fairfield News: Resident Says Explosion Led To Structure Fire

FAIRFIELD (CT) - A quick response and aggressive fire attack by Fairfield Firefighters prevented further damage caused by a fire, which by the resident's statements, was preceded by an explosion at a Half Mile Road single-family home today. Within 11 minutes the first alarm assignment of 20 firefighters arrived on the scene, and they were faced with an extensive fire that had engulfed the rear of the 2100 square foot colonial home.  Fire and smoke could be seen towering over the home from across the street by neighbors as the fire attempted to gain control of the interior. Fairfield News: Hazmat Incident

Fairfield Fire Department Press Release: At 5:07PM PM the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call from a resident at 200 Edgewood Road reporting her refrigerator was leaking in the basement. Ladder 2 and Engine 3 responded to assist the resident. Upon arrival the resident stated that when she opened the freezer her eyes were irritated and began to water. Ladder 2 made entry to the basement with full protective equipment and a compliment of meters to assess the situation. Upon entering the basement Ladder 2’s meters immediately went into alarm signifying the release of the vintage model refrigerator’s coolant. 2:19pm--#Fairfield CT-- Two people were rescued as the tide started pulling them out off Pine Creek Avenue.  At one point it sounded like both subjects were underwater at one point and then a paddleboarder may have aided them according to radio reports.  The latest report said both people are out of the water and all subjects accounted for.   This news report is made possible by:

Bridgeport News: Fishermen Rescue 14 Year Old Autistic Boy From The Water

3:15pm--#Fairfield CT--#Bridgeport CT-- A fourteen-year-old autistic boy from Monroe walked along the sandbar from Fairfield beach. As the water began to rise for the 3:56pm high tide, the boy began to panic. Nearby fishermen spotted the boy and picked brought him aboard their boat. The boy was brought to the Pier 5 where first responders were staged, he was checked out by EMS and he only suffered some cuts and scratches from the rough portion of the sandbar.
