Stolen Car Pursuit Ends in Crash, Two Arrested

A vehicle pursuit and arrest followed a stolen car incident this morning. At around 9:30 AM, a Wilton Police vehicle was struck by a stolen grey Mazda occupied by two men, which fled toward the Merritt Parkway. The Mazda had been stolen at gunpoint in Bridgeport on September 26. Fairfield Police spotted the Mazda shortly after, and a pursuit ensued when the driver accelerated. The vehicle exited at Exit 51, where officers tried to deploy tire deflation devices, but the driver re-entered the Merritt Parkway, driving in the wrong direction. At 9:47 AM, the stolen vehicle collided with another vehicle carrying five occupants. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The two suspects fled on foot. Fairfield, Conn., October 3, 2024—The Town of Fairfield’s Plan & Zoning Commission (TPZ) hasscheduled a hearing on Tuesday, October 15 th  at 6:30 pm at the Fairfield Regional Fire School at 205Richard White Way to receive public comment on the draft Plan of Conservation and Development(POCD). The POCD establishes priorities for public and private investment in the community for the next tenyears. Update in Two Officers Injured, Shoplifting Suspects Arrested After High-Stakes Pursuit in Fairfield

https://youtu.be/s2fyzdsoCxM On September 24, 2024, Fairfield Police were called to Home Depot on Kings Highway Cutoff after reports of two known shoplifters, Amanda Belcher and James Coates, who had been previously banned from the store. The suspects attempted to steal over $1,200 in merchandise when loss prevention alerted police. Both suspects had multiple active warrants from several jurisdictions, including Fairfield, Greenwich, and Naugatuck. When officers arrived, Belcher fled on foot but was pursued by police through the parking lot. She managed to enter a vehicle, dragging one officer as she reversed, and collided with another car before escaping the scene. Fairfield News: Pedestrian Struck

Fairfield Police responded to a motor vehicle crash which occurred at the intersection of New England Avenue and Kings Hwy Cutoff, where a pedestrian was struck while crossing the road. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where they remain in critical but stable condition. Kings Hwy Cutoff remained closed during the investigation, but has since reopened. No official determination of fault has been made at this time. The crash is being investigated by our crash investigation unit.
