  Council voted unanimously against project in its present form  FAIRFIELD, CT – State Representative Jennifer Leeper (D-Fairfield), State Senator Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield), and Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber today supported the Connecticut Siting Council’s unanimous vote against the United Illuminating (UI) Railroad Transmission Line Upgrade Project as proposed.   During Thursday’s Siting Council finding of fact meeting, the Council examined the submitted evidence and made a preliminary non-binding opinion on UI’s proposed project in Docket 516. Not one commissioner voted in support of UI’s project as proposed. Four commissioners, including the Chairman, supported the perspective that the new monopoles should be moved to the north side of the tracks, so as to avoid the creation of a second transmission corridor in such a congested region. 2 Die In I95 Crash

#Fairfield CT-- #cttraffic In a tragic collision involving multiple vehicles, one of the vehicles was a tractor-trailer, resulting in the closure of both sides of the highway for several hours. Police have reported the unfortunate demise of William Foster, 75, from Bridgeport, and the tractor-trailer driver, Fred Nimmon, 70, from Aspers, Pa. A third driver, whose injuries appeared minor, received treatment at Bridgeport Hospital, according to Connecticut State Police troopers. The incident occurred just before midnight in the northbound lanes before Exit 22, as per state police reports. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2018 Chevrolet Impala, a 2023 BMW 300, and the tractor-trailer were traveling northbound. Fairfield School Employee Arrested On Child Pornography

On November 13, 2023, the Fairfield Police Department was notified by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit of a tip they received involving the potential possession of child pornography within the Town of Fairfield. The Fairfield Police Department Investigative Division conducted an exhaustive investigation, including numerous search and seizure warrants, which led them to develop Peter Wheeler, Jr. (DOB 01/30/2000) of Fairfield, CT as a potential suspect. The investigation also revealed that Wheeler was an employee of the Fairfield Public School system. The Fairfield Public School administration was notified once this information was confirmed earlier this month.
