Boys & Girls Village Receives Grant from DCF to Support Parents and Families

MILFORD, Conn. (August 15, 2019)  Boys & Girls Village received a $550,000 grant from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) to support delivery of a Parenting Support Services (PSS) Program. The service supports and enhances positive functioning for families with children 0-18 years-of-age. Families enrolled in the program receive one of two PSS interventions, the Positive Parenting Program, which helps parents become resourceful problem solvers and create a positive and safe home learning environment, or the Circle of Security Parenting program, designed to build, support, and strengthen parents’ relationship capabilities. Milford News: Speeding Nets “Drug” Charges

#Milford CT--A Chevy Suburban bearing Tenessee plates passed a state trooper in the right at a high rate of speed on Rte 15 Northbound in the area of Exit 53. During the course of the traffic stop investigation it was determined that there was marijuana present in the vehicle. A subsequent vehicle search revealed that there was more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana in the vehicle in various places. State Funds Given to Cities to Assist in Halting Gun Violence

HARTFORD, CT – Today, state Senator Dennis Bradley (D-Bridgeport) released the following statement in response to an announcement by Governor Ned Lamont that Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven will each receive funding to increase police staffing levels to assist in the prevention of gun violence and violent crime in the summer months. The cities will each receive $25,000 to cover the cost of increasing staffing levels to curb violent crime. Complimentary Rides for Vets to the VA Hospital in West Haven

The Bigelow Center has partnered with the Trumbull Human Services Department and Greater Bridgeport Transit to provide monthly rides to Veterans to the West Haven VA Hospital. The new service, for all area Veterans, began in July and continues this and every month, on the last Friday of each month. The bus will stop at the Bigelow Center at 8:30 AM then proceed to the Trumbull Senior Center before departing for the VA Hospital in West Haven. The bus is to leave the VA by 3:00 PM, once all appointments of those on the trip have ended. The rides are free to Veterans and those accompanying them for appointments. Registration is required a week in advance at either senior center.…

Stratford News: Weapons and Narcotics Arrest

#Stratford CT--On 06/19/2019 the Stratford Narcotics Unit, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Task Force, Safe Streets Task Force and the Norwalk Police Narcotics Unit executed two Search Warrants for Narcotics and Firearms Violations. These Search Warrants were the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics Unit and the Bridgeport Police Task Force that focused on Narcotics Sales as well as Firearms related crimes within the Town of Stratford and City of Bridgeport.
