Saturday, November 11, 2023 STRATFORD- The Town of Stratford and the Marine Corps League Housatonic Detachment #1129 are pleased to announce the inaugural Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 11th. The parade steps off at 10am from Stratford Town Hall, traveling south on Main Street. The parade will conclude at the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Academy Hill, which is hosted by Stratford’s VFW Post 9460. “On Veterans Day we take time to honor and celebrate the sacrifices and contributions of all who served our country in the military and their families,” said Mayor Laura R. Stratford Library Workshop on November 6″Surprise Photos with Your Cell Phone”

The Stratford Library will present a special photo workshop on Monday, November 6 at 7 pm.  Stratford's Dee Hiatt, whose current exhibit "The Cell Photo Photo Project" is currently on display at the Library, will host the workshop entitled "Surprise Photos with Your Cell Phone".  It is free and open to the public.  Participants are invited to bring their cell phone and learn how to: look at surroundings slowly and calmly, wait to take a photo until you are intrigued by something, editing the photo, if necessary, while keeping the honesty of what you photographed and sharing your photos with others.       The "Surprise Photos with Your Cell Phone" workshop will be held in the Stratford Library Board Room (lower…

The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, CT will present an unusual holiday program “Dreaming with the Departed” on Tuesday, October 17 from 6:30-8 pm.  Dream teacher Adelita Chirino will host the special program which is free and open to the public.                              October is a magical month; a time of year leading up to Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, the holiday where traditionally indigenous ancestors honored those they love who are no longer in this physical waking life.  It is also a great time to contemplate dreams and how they might help one to understand death better. Dreaming with our departed allows us to stay connected to those we still love.    Chirino will share how dreams can be a bridge to connecting with the departed and many more…

Aquarion will conduct a valve replacement in the area of Main Street and Woodend Road on October 3, 2023, from approximately 11 PM to 7 AM. Residents and businesses within the 900 through 1300 blocks of Main Street and where Main Street and Woodend Road intersect are expected to be affected directly.  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that due to a weather forecast indicating that temperatures over the next couple of days are expected to be very hot and humid, he is directing Connecticut’s extreme hot weather protocol to be activated effective at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, and remaining in effect through 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The current forecast indicates that temperatures over this period will rise close to or into the low 90s, and the heat index is expected to reach into the mid-90s in certain inland areas of the state.
